Totally in agreement with you there Spangle, for example when I saw Saving Private Ryan for the first time with my dad in the cinema (I was like 12-13) I was shaking with adrenaline/fear/excitment during the Landing scene. I knew it wasn't 'real' and that it was just a movie. But the experience of watching that was absolutley intense and very moving.
Black Hawk Down was another example, and according to an Army spokesman, they stated that "BHD is the most realistic Hollywood version of a war zone ever recreated...the only thing that they should have done differently was....make it more violent!"
To have that same 'realism' added to a game, where you control what you see/do...now that would be as close to real combat as one could get without being 'injured'. This game/mod should take the innocence out of 'games' so to speak and show a harsher reality than what FPS games are used to in war games. That's what the final product should be like anyway, IMO.

And on the note of Saving Private Ryan; I remember when I first saw the landing scene... There was that Soldier, laying on the sand with his intestines spilling out of his body.
He looks around and begins to cry, "Momma!" "Momma!" I realized that it was a film, and none of it was real, but I could really feel something when I saw that scene. I was moved. And it's one of the only times that a film has had that effect on me.

I hear you on that one BB, another noteworthy thing I once saw on the History Channel was; I think it was during the Battle for Iwo Jima, American Soldiers would come across dying Japanese soldiers who would be calling out in pain for their mothers; on that same note, Japanese patrols at night would come across our young soldiers and find them crying out for their mothers as well. This made both sides realize that the enemy they were fighting against (whatever side you were on) was human, and with their final few moments in pain/suffering they would both call out to their mothers.
It really must have been a shocking/saddening realiztion indeed; considering all the stories they'd heard about the other side being demons with horns or invicible men who could take a few dozen round to the chest.

So with regard to what has been discussed, should we implement 'graphic war attributes' such as downed soldiers, animations/sound etc..., and if so, with how much detail should we add such effects?
Mind you, although war is a horrible thing (and I can thankfully say I have never first hand experienced it) I think we should create a wake-up call to all gamers/people in general about how horrible war can be, seeing as this generation (those born in the late 80's-mid 90's) haven't seen war first hand and the pain brought with it. So ironically creating a game based on war/realism to show how horrible it is.

Yes, I think that we should make it so intense, that some gamers half way through may just crack and need a break. And when I say intense I mean: OMG there are two people lying in the middle of the road screaming, i could help them but im being shot, the medic is now going to run towards them **** hes dead... Iv'e got to get outta here.

Exactly... Spangle, why don't you start a thread in either the IG or in this pub area of the forums regarding 'gritty details' as you so eliquently put it.
So detail can be discussed further. Aside from the whole logistics, tansport/repair/delivery aspects which should be discussed in here.
