The CH-46 lands on water, and can stay a float for up to 2 hours. I don't think the H-53 series is capable of water landings.

The CH-46 was the helo in BF:V by the way, it's been serving that long.

Edit*
Well... so has the H-53 so never mind.

the carrier is too small, im suprised they got the right carrier in there, the actual marine carrier as opposed to the super carriers that are more famous. they even put the anti air installations in the right place, except that there are two phlanx close-in weapons systems flanking the mk29 sea sparrow SAM.

back to how smal it is... the spots hanging over the sides of the carrier, actually aircraft elevators, can fit both a CH-46E and CH-53E helicopters on a single lift, in the game there is just room for a single chopper.

Just as an idea of how big it really is and how much it can really hold, compare that to the game

So have the H-47 Chinook, H-6, UH-1 and AH-1. All have been improved over time, though, but most fixed wing aircraft from that era are in museums and boneyards.

The CH-46 was in BF:V? I only played it enough to see the ACH-47 "Guns-a-Go-Go."

As for water landings, the CH-53D/E (but not the Pave Low variants) and CH-46 can, but I think it requires extra prep on the aircraft, as it's for emergencies only and not a common practice. The older H-3 Sea King / Jolly Green Giant / Pelican could do it and had a fuselage designed to do so.

The Super Frelon / Z-8 is also able to land on water in the CSAR role.

Bah.. eddie you know too much. Sorry for the misinformation, but wow... didn't know the US was so concerned with water landings.

As for BF:V, eddie is probably right(again[as usual]). I just assumed since it had been in service starting in BF:V it would make sense for that to be it.

I don't think we have ever employed or considered a true "amphibious" helo since the H-3 series. The boat hull fuselage used to be a signature of Sikorsky products like the H-3.

The French Super Frelon (Chinese produced as Z- 8) was developed in cooperation with Sikorsky, so it has the boat hull fuselage, too.

id love to see a heavy lift helo that could land on water and transport small vehicles like RHIB or DPV or something id prefer the '53 but id settle for a 46

i think DCX had an awsome idea when they made the C-130 capable of transporting 110's it was one of my favorite things about the .8 build of DCX and something i wish DC had thought up a while ago

i would LOVE to see helos that can land on water and carry light vehicles in them, mmm imagine how much fun it would be to have you and your squad in a heli, go in for a land hop into your humvee or whatever and start capturing flags!

The Naval Special Warfare 10 or 11 meter RHIBs cannot be carried internally by the H-53 Stallion / Pave Low or H-47 Chinook helicopters. However, the Zodiac CRRC (Combat Rubber Reconnaissance Craft or Combat Rubber Raiding Craft) can be carried internally and deployed from the ramp with combat swimmers in a "low and slow" helocast. This photo is courtesy of an active duty Pave Low flight engineer

The H-53 is capable of internally transporting the Chenowth Light Strike Vehicle (USN Special Warfare calls it the DPV and Army and USMC call it the FAV), USMC Interim Fast Attack Vehicle (Mercedes-Benz MB290 GT "G-Wagon") and the Army Special Forces Toyota Tacoma / Hilux Non-Standard Commercial Vehicle (NSCV).

And of course, the Chinook can internally transport the Land Rover 110 WMIK / Ranger Special Operations Vehicle.

That's nifty...
and holy sh!t those are big helos. Just the tail of that '53 is bigger than the guy standing under it! Just the sheer size of these makes me want to be able to fly them.
