Dear Devs, are we going to see better & more detailed wall, ground, and vehicle textures for 1.0? If so, how much of a impact is it going to have performance wise?

In some cases possibly, in other cases, no.smgunsftw wrote:Dear Devs, are we going to see better & more detailed wall, ground, and vehicle textures for 1.0? If so, how much of a impact is it going to have performance wise?
Problem isn't performance, its memory usage. BF2 is only a 32bit app and as a result, has a memory usage limit of I can't remember to be exact, something like 3gbs or 4gbs on x64 systems but don't quote me on those numbers as I can't remember and can't be asked to look it up. The point is, we are at the verge of going over that limit already, Shijia in v0.98 is over that limit for some 32bit players on some layers, and when a player goes over the memory limit, even if their system has much more memory to spare, it will crash the client since the app can't use any more memory than that.
But with optimizations we do around the mod we in the future may see some cases of more high rez textures

Hello Dev's!is it possible to make the dead bodies stay longer on the battlefield in PR1.0
i think they stay there for only a minute or so...
and same with the cartridges that your rifle drops they only stay for 5 seconds or so...

yes it is possible, we even tried it already, but eats to much performance, so it wont be in 1.0.Blackburn92xBHD wrote: and same with the cartridges that your rifle drops they only stay for 5 seconds or so...

What about the bodies? It will be trickier to identify a kill in 1.0 now that the bodies don't jump up like they're in a broadway musical, so having the bodies stick around a little longer would be helpful.[R-DEV]K4on wrote:yes it is possible, we even tried it already, but eats to much performance, so it wont be in 1.0.

Will there be changes for the Medic "resuscitate" Action? Its far more useful to drop a field dressing now than pushing bodies around cause it seems they "push" the body harder than the resuscitate action but actually its often a waste of field dressings..especially when the amount gets reduced.

Is it possible to make an official submod/addon featuring no resucitation as an alternative gameplay style?

Re: Ask the [Dev]s a (?)
Yes apart from the official part. To make it official it either needs to be made by us, or at the very least approved by us. Mods in the past like Combined Arms have made minimods of PR which loaded all of PR's content and than made small modifications to the code etc.himond wrote:Is it possible to make an official submod/addon featuring no resucitation as an alternative gameplay style?

I remember seeing a video (a long time ago) that players could drag bodies. THe problem is that they also could drag APCs and tanks.
Will we see something like that in 1.0?

Is there anyway of allocating more memory to BF2 and/or changing the code to that of a x64 app. Would it require having to modify the engine?[R-DEV]Rhino wrote:In some cases possibly, in other cases, no.

Do you ever have the temptation to put a CD of 'Qom' in a red car to a playtester's house as a prank yelling out 'Allahu Aghbar' and the explosion sound just to freak them out?
