Tank-based map

Quick question.

For maps based on massive tank combat, (like El Alamein or Operation Aberdeen in 1942) will the PR team allow the tanks to spawn quickly?

Because those maps can be so fun when everybody has their own piece of armor, but so boring while your waiting for vehicles to spawn. If you don't allow tanks to spawn quickly in a map like this, then the armor maps really won't work.

I disagree with each individual having their own piece of armour, it would be far too arcadey.
I personally think it should be 3 to a tank.

even 30 tanks VS 30 tanks, i don't think that's arcadey at all. It is PR gameplay after all. But again, will the team allow quick re-spawning of the armor?

no.

but we'll provide capabilities to keep tanks alive and in battle ready condition.

but you'll never see 30 second respawn on tanks like vBF2 sort of play.

Having to wait for a long time for the tank to respawn is the incentive to keep it alive and not do something stupid. Although it's not very realistic to have only 8 tanks in combat, the tactics will at least be realistic.

I would love to see more vehicle based maps to change things up. El Al XXL comes up far too rarely.

Would that be the one you are working on Rhino?

It would be nice to have a few "Recce" type vehicles in there too, to carry out any recce's and provide flank protection etc - as in RL ?

well, okay, 30 seconds would be too quickly. But maybe letting them spawn within 2 or 3 minutes wouldn't really be all that bad. You really are completely out of the action if you don't have a tank, even after the appropriately long PR spawn times for infantry. Also, if one side does maintain most of their tanks alive, while the other team doesn't, well, the other team really won't have much of a chance to counter attack since they won't have any armor for a long time.

well, I just hope that what you guys are planning work out okay.

there are some "combined arms" maps in v0.4 .. Rhino is not the only source of maps ;)

But as for a purely armor map .. that will be in a future release.

wont be 100% pure, will have a slight tint of infantry combat in there too :)
