Shilka texture

Post by Rabbit »

Felt like showing off my work as I'm just starting texturing. Anyway not sure if any of you have seen but shikotan contains quite a few re-textures including but not limited too the t-55.

Anyway I did the USI shilka too, feel free to provide feedback, its not for any project or anything, just looking at getting better.

Sorry for the **** low quality editor pictures, I had to crop them in paint to not show current projects.

Wow, looks great! Are you making this for a personal project, or can we expect to see a Yom Kappur War map sometime soon? We already have the M60 Pattons from Vietnam, most of the weapons already exist as well.

My only worry is that you arent working off psds ect, increasing the liklihood of the compression showing?

No, this texture was just me having fun, working on making textures.

Nope, not working on anything, just trying to get better at textures.

Yeah, would be nice to have that texture palette in something other than a psds, however I haven't noticed any problems yet, then again I'm not sure exactly what problems I could see happening, pixel bleeding maybe? Or a purple color you mentioned once that can be seen on some weapons?

yeah the discolouration is the main thing afaik, though the textures you've done do look nice, I'd just ensure that you save teh PSDs you've presumably been working on so that any further mods (e.g. possible resizing for optimisation etc) don't result in quality loss from recompression :)

As long as you dont save as .DDS everytime you make a edit its "ok". Pretty if you are editing a existing .DDS make it a .PSD first, then do your edits, then save out as a .DDS.

Yeah, thats what I have been doing, made it a psd, then when I want to test it in the editor, save a copy as a .dds, then make changes to the original psd.
