True. That's why I put the word between quotes, because it's not a real answer to your wishes.

Re: Binoculars Removal Feedback
There is no problem, medic shouldn't be standing out there with binoculars searching for targets. It should stay in the back covering squads back, and in case someone gets hurt, do his magic.
You may try again to 'explain' to me why would medic be needing a binoculars, but it wont work.

And I absolutely understand what you meant to say. I always pickup crewman kit for CQB and urban skirmishes.[R-DEV]AfterDune wrote:The in-game 'solution' if you want to go ironsight/aimpoint AND have binocs is to take Crewman. No ammo or frag grenades, but you do get smoke.

Re: Binoculars Removal Feedback
I see there is no way to change your mind about that and i understand your arguments. Its just in the end lesser fun to play the game, not because of i dont have sup0r 1337 optics or binos, its just i feel so bored when everyone else is fighting. Medic gets completely reduced to its healing role and if a long range firefight happens or we defend a position on maps like khamiisiya i just tab out and surf the internet and tab in when someone calls a medic, just because there nothing else to do. That is the whole point for me and i simply dont see the advantage this change brings. Yeah you can bypass that by switching the Kit on a crate, but what does that matter when you guys bring points up like "teamplay bla bla" when everyone just switch his kit to something like marksman or crewman, i think thats not how this game should played. For sure i can grab a sniper kit and take my medic back if someone needs a heal, but i felt never do so before and its not good for the team...
I like to play PR even with this change because its a great game but it doesnt flow like before and i miss the small things the binos brought like watching a apc fight far away or simply what happens on the map, you had a way to entertain you when there was nothing to do. Its not that gamebreaking or something, but i miss it and i see it doesnt make any sense to discuss it further.

This. I do the same, just because there is NOTHING YOU CAN DO when you are medic on maps such as kamishiya. I don't think players should have to tab out because of boredom, and if this happens I'm fairly sure it means there is a flaw somewhere..Medic gets completely reduced to its healing role and if a long range firefight happens or we defend a position on maps like khamiisiya i just tab out and surf the internet and tab in when someone calls a medic, just because there nothing else to do.
With a scope you can spot, with binos you can spot. Only HAT and medic have neither of these, but the HAT can do its HAT job, so what can the medic do? pretty much nothing, maybe hope for someone to get crushed between the crate and the truck so there is some reviving job to do.

Ye well, only on the rocket launcher so it still can't be considered a 'scope' I think, or at least not a very handy one.
Anyway despite of this, in my example of kamisiya a HAT would have something to do, shooting vehicles and stuff, while the medic stupidly waits/hopes for people to get shot.

And theres only one HAT per Team so its a really really special Kit. You have Medics in every squad.

Re: Binoculars Removal Feedback
Today on Karbala I felt so freaking useless as a medic. Well I didn't feel I actually was. In the middle of the desert with no binos just walking around hoping for people to die since there is absolutely nothing else to do!
I kept tabbing out to browse forums and shit, I'm sorry but this should never happen, we don't play PR to get 100% bored because nothing to do at all. This should really show you DEVS how much of a flaw there is with this new system. I can't believe it is not even considered, especially when both polls made about it say that people want it to be changed.
What in the hell is the purpose of removing binos, they have been everywhere since PR started like 10 years ago and it has always been a typical PR feature which would actually make the difference with BF2 or any other fps except pretty much Arma. Now all of a sudden, after a decade, bim binos are removed. Why would one change/remove something that has been good and working in the past, I don't get it?
7 years ago when my friend introduced me to PR, he told me this exact thing : "You'll see nayo it's not like BF2 where when you get shot you just shoot back because you kind of know where the guy is. On PR you get shot you get your binos out and start looking around to spot the enemies and try to see where they are, it's much more tactical and less arcade."
I still remember this because I didn't know PR yet and actually found very interesting the idea of adding binos to BF2 for more tactical and less arcade, hence a bit more realistic.

Dude... Please settle down or start your own blog or something. You put up a poll and the overwhelming number of people are happy with the current setup.
I play medic mostly out of all kits and don't have a drama adapting my gameplay to suit the current setup...

Re: Binoculars Removal Feedback
I originally voted that nothing should be changed, but lately I've caught myself constantly requesting a crewman kit if im a medic or breacher if I'm playing a big open map.
I think that the kit's who by default don't get a long range weapon should get bino's so they can help direct the fire instead of being useless. It is okay being bored in PR, but feeling useless when your squad-mates are firing rounds down range is quite bad. Your just hoping for bad things to happen to your own squad
, so your no longer useless.
The HAT don't need binos because he is already firing down range with his HAT. Just add it to Breacher and medic maybe. Switching to crewman feels like a temporary but necessary fix.
On the good side you there are less eyes observing the battlefield so it is easier to "sneak" around without getting spotted, but it is also a big disadvantage to players using small laptop screens as they would be blind at shorter range.

I'm sorry, but your medic kit is the role you play. Your priority as a medic in a squad is to heal playersnAyo wrote:Today on Karbala I felt so freaking useless as a medic. 53% aren't! same on the previous poll hereYou put up a poll and the overwhelming number of people are happy with the current setup.
@Spush, yes I'm aware of that, but why would it be completely useless when it could help spot enemies, or look around just to cover the area. I play medic 247 since I started PR, and I have noticed a big difference between before 1.0 and after 1.0. It is not the same gameplay, one whole part is now missing, which inevitably leads to boredom now on karbala or kamisiyah for example
"Is that a bush or a guy?" is the question I have asked the most so far I think. How is that even any realistic to struggle on something like that, especially when it's just a couple of hundred meters away only...

Re: Binoculars Removal Feedback
Can we settle this once and for all?
Binocs are ingame because there is binocs in the god damned real life. If binocs were ingame to "represent better vision compared to RL" there should be SECONDARY binocs to represent the, yet again, god damned RL binocs!
Scopes are ingame to represent mounting scope on the guns, not to represent better vision IRL. If ironsights would have 1,5x zoom, then ACOG would have 5,5x zoom and that is not realistic.
Is its really so hard to understand that you are not the only one lacking binocs? Apparently it is. Everybody is at the disadvantage which in turn makes everybody equal.
For people saying that you are not useful to the squad; the squad directs your fire, you are not useless as you still have the option to fire in the general direction, and if the guy next to you sees the tracers falling low, he will correct YOU. Its like being handicapped in a wheelchair but wanting to help carry a piano up the stairs; no go, brother, others will help you. They are your friends when engaging, you are their friend when throwing a hook, healing, or whatever.
There, end of discussion.
/Thread.

If you look at the poll you can see that the majority of the voters are unhappy with the changes.[R-MOD]IINoddyII wrote:Dude... Please settle down or start your own blog or something. You put up a poll and the overwhelming number of people are happy with the current setup.

Re: Binoculars Removal Feedback
Medic with no scope and no binos versus officer with scope and binos, or versus insurgents/talibans with binos on all kits, or versus AR with scope, or versus rifleman with scope and so on. I'm not going to give more examples I guess you get my point. I don't think you really understand what equality consists in, equality was when everybody had binos. Is its really so hard to understand that you are not the only one lacking binocs? Apparently it is. Everybody is at the disadvantage which in turn makes everybody equal.
And for eye vision, what we say is that binos fairly simulate that, just like it has two purposes : #1 the binos themselves, and #2 a good way to simulate that eye-focus thing

Re: Binoculars Removal Feedback
There's a total of 160 votes at this moment, of which 46.88% is fine with the current setup (= 75 people). The remaining 85 would like to see a change, varying from bringing back some binocs to bringing back all.saXoni wrote:If you look at the poll you can see that the majority of the voters are unhappy with the changes.
There are way too little votes in order for the poll to mean anything (for either "side", that is).
For me, personally, this says most forumpeople see this thread (it's bumped very regularly), but simply don't bother to vote. Either because they're happy with the change, or they don't really care and are happy with whatever gets decided.

Is there anything speaking against an option to zoom in on unscoped rifles though? This would close the gap between scoped and unscoped rifles and address the limited eyesight in the game simultaneously while still reflecting that the _relative_ majority voted for no binocs.

We've looked into it and put it this way, even the guys who where in favour of trying out this idea in concept decided against it after trying it.Frontliner wrote:Is there anything speaking against an option to zoom in on unscoped rifles though?
