Supply icon like vehicle.

Post by Roque_THE_GAMER »

hello, do not know if I've suggested but it would be very useful if the Supply had a icon on the mini map because often when posing fire bases in the middle of a dense bush and suplay this in the middle or when is inside me somewhere behind something is really hard to find and when you need a kit or ammo is always frustrating when we find in terms of "logic" or "Reality" suplay let's say that the box have a device inside which appears on the GPS. ;)

Sorry my bad english.

We considered marking crates on the minimap but decided it would create too many markers, which would clutter the map and possibly cause lag. So you'll just have to walk around the FOB and find the crate. Remember, it has to be within 50m so it shouldn't take too long to find.

iirc it was down to not being able to find a way of making it only show for one team, although if we changed the way our crates dropped it would be possible and it wouldn't cause any lag.

What about the ability to self mark the location of enemy crates? Right now most players use the Bridge out Icon to symbolize enemy crates or future crate request locations. Could "BRIDGE OUT" be changed to read Crate location? and while im talking about it Change "Rally Point" to enemy squad?

Interesting idea :)

Would need to make the create icon pretty small so it doesn't clutter up the map however and would ideally want it destroyed when the create is.

and about bringing back the vanilla mini map? could function as the squad radar in ArmA2 only appears squad and Suplay box, ammo box, small tings we dont need in the map, lets say that this will be the field of view and memory of the soldier.

Well, I wouldn't think that the FOV and memory of a soldier should be a gameplay item. When you're playing, you're the soldier. You have a FOV and you have memory so there's no point in making a gameplay element for a soldier's memory. That's why we don't have an ammo counter for what's left in your magazine. You're supposed to remember about how many shots you've fired.

Totally agree!

the fov from Arma 2 it's different because you can see around with Alt key but im BF2 you have to move your soldier to know whats goin on.

Couldn't we use the same system that the mines once had to warn friendlies so that this way you can see where the crates are specially if they're inside a static?

Ye, doesn't last very long thou and might send the wrong message to people needing ammo thinking "damn, there is no ammo there, better stay clear of that area!" :p

perhaps another word with the ammo as optional "Need Supply" with right button.

Why so? Id just remove those icons from riflemans and some other kits it appears on, and make it only appear on ammo boxes for a longer period of time.

Its already in the game and its the easiest and probably most effective way of doing it.

I find situation right now as minimap or map being overly cluttered with those supply icons when you use commo rose function, so its hard to distinct, who is what and what the crate is.

Or it could be left as is, if you want a ninja FOB and hidden crates, they will be hard to find. If you want easy find crates then the enemy can find them easily as well, I really don't think its worth changing anything.

Oh but there is sorcery in it! Enemy cant see icons when you call for ammo from commo rose, so whats the problem there.

Either way Id be fine, but Id remove those stupid icons cluttering the map with ammo-like icons and leave them show only for crates, not infantrymen. If you need ammo and theres no crate around and you have a rifleman in squad you call him over mumble to find him, you dont use commo rose and track for icons.

If your talking about players changing the way they are currently using the ammo icon as I thought you where on about then you will get mixed messages between the old message of "need ammo here" and the new message of "ammo is here" which are the total opposite of each other...

If however your talking about making a new icon etc, that's a different story and we covered that a few pages ago.

How about making a small hovering mark(that is visible from aroud 30-50m) above supply crate?. It could look like hovering mine marks in Forgotten Hope 2, but instead of skull, there would be an ammo mark or smt like that.
