Device manager, reinstall device?

Post by Ason »

Hello, My mouse was flipping out disconnecting and reconnecting every 3 seconds so I tried to fix it and without really thinking I uninstalled something called "HID compatible" in the "mice and other pointing devices" category(I wanted to uninstall the mousepad device since I thought it was interfering with the normal mouse or something, but accidentally removed the HID named thing). When I uninstalled it a window popped up with a checkbox saying "Remove device from system" which I did not check. So I thought it would remain on the computer somewhere if I some day wanted to reinstall it. But the problem is I can't find it or anything saying "reinstall"...
So I'm just wondering if it's somehow possible to reinstall this "HID compatible" thing in the mice section of the Device manager?

I got a laptop, Asus K53TA with windows 7

EDIT: I got the HID thing back on the device manager so I guess it's solved, but if someone knows how to fix the disconnecting/reconnecting mouse issue please tell me :)

Which mouse device is broken, the touchpad built into the notebook, or a separate mouse that you plug in though USB?

Fn + F9 should be the hotkey on that laptop to disable/enable touchpad. Try disabling it and then see how it goes with you usb mouse.

If its not working either your USB mouse is malfunctioning or you need a mousepad which is not white/glossy/glass.

Thanks for the answers guys, it was my USB mouse which was disconnecting/reconnecting, and thanks Massive I never knew that, now I can finally play PR without shooting unintentionally :P
I managed to get it working again by following this if anyone is interested:

If you're experiencing mouse lockups or failures, it may be because your computer is automatically turning off the power to a USB Root Hub.

1.Go to your Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > and click on the "Device Manager" button.

2.In the Device Manager window, find the item or items labeled "Universal Serial Bus controllers." Open it, and double-click the first item called "USB Root Hub."

3.In the USB Root Hub Properties dialog, click on the "Power Management" tab.

4."Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is checked by default. Uncheck this box, and click "OK."
