Re: Major Performance Issues
Having a Quad Core CPU deosn't say much here.
If you have a low CPU clock rate, like 4x 2.4ghz, an older dual core with 2x 3.0 ghz will still be better suited for PR.

Most folk's performance problems are likely CPU related, not GPU, so you might find you can actually crank most video options settings up with negligible impact on FPS, particularly AA and resolution.tankninja1 wrote:Really hate not being able to play with anti-aliasing and good res. With AA of sights on some rifles dissappear. With bad res iron sights at any range is impossible.

Re: Major Performance Issues
Interestingly enough I tried to down clock my CPU to it's default speed and then procceded to try PR again. I was expecting to have worse performance but as it turn out, there is no difference from Stock -> Over Clocked. This is really weird... BTW, Running AMD FX-6100, Stock : 3.3GHz OC: 4.1GHz. No affect on performance.

Re: Major Performance Issues
Last time I tried cranking the video settings up I got some really bad stuttering when looking around (played Khamisiyah). Haven't tried on other maps though.

Try setting texture quality to medium in that case, and maybe geometry.tjaze wrote:Last time I tried cranking the video settings up I got some really bad stuttering when looking around (played Khamisiyah).

I found that turning down AA and res helped a bit boosting my fps 5-7fps taking it up to a playable level.Boris wrote:Most folk's performance problems are likely CPU related, not GPU, so you might find you can actually crank most video options settings up with negligible impact on FPS, particularly AA and resolution.

Re: Major Performance Issues
Do some proper A/B tests (take readings from the exact same location on a map) as afaik these these should be entirely GPU based, so if you're getting increased FPS with these reduced, then it suggests the GPU is limited. Run GPU-Z to see what utilisation the card is seeing during play (enable logging).tankninja1 wrote:I found that turning down AA and res helped a bit boosting my fps 5-7fps taking it up to a playable level.

Re: Major Performance Issues
I'll do some experimentation by seeing any areas that affect FPS heavily, then screenshotting them with the video recording free software (MSI Afterburner) then the area (Like F2 Keypad 4 Bridge West), map, server, players.
Edit: renderer.drawfps 1 is better, thanks Boris for the suggestion

If you don't know, you can drop the console in-game and type: Renderer.DrawFps 1.Arab wrote:Well turning of EAX did turn out to increase performance for me. Can anyone try this with a FPS Counter
Or a quicker way, type: ren[TAB]d[TAB]f[TAB]1

Re: Major Performance Issues
I guess there just hasn't been anything to add.
I'll throw in my specs here as well considering since 1.0 the game has been rather difficult to play for me with a steady framerate, forest maps such as Fools Road and Kozelsk run perfectly fine with the exception of Dovre but city maps are where my framerate begins to drop. It's playable but theres a difference between playing and competing that ruins the experience for me.
In previous versions I have always managed to have the settings at med/high, in 0.98 this took a hit and I was forced down to medium and now in 1.0 I'm all low.
Looking at the difference between my specifications and AFSoccer's posted a few pages back my lack of processing power and being on a 32-bit OS seem to be the main issues, but maybe this helpful to someone.
EDIT:- I guess I should also mention that reducing the sound quality was a major performance boost for me, the new sounds definitely are very resource intensive.

Spoiler for \"Specifications\":

Re: Major Performance Issues
So far, I got my Project Reality running smoothly.
Ran all settings low, disable useless services like search and replace it with a search program called Everything, startups, uninstall resource heavy programs and use alternatives like instead of Adobe Reader I now use Foxit Reader, remove features in add/remove, ccleaner (No registry cleaner because it's not good for your computer), using a blank background.
Running all video and sound settings low would make a noticeable difference. Also, disabling networking features like homegroup if you don't share your pc in a network, and disabling useless things like disable client for microsoft networks, file and printer sharing can give a noticeable improvement. You can look at 'Black Viper' and 'Google' to search for each service to disable.
If you feel daunted by doing this, you can run Razor Game Booster but you have to register an account. You can use something like mailinator for email to receive the account confirmation detail and run it when using Project Reality, and that, combined with PR on lowest settings and AA etc OFF will give an noticeable improvement.
Running Project Reality on low isn't so bad.
EAX, well I found actually improves performance. This is on Al Basrah Co-op. Not a controlled test, but notice about 30 FPS increase.
Running sounds low quality increases the performance, but I really doubt that. I don't know.

If I have to do all this to get a stable FPS (as stable as possible) there's something wrong...Arab wrote:So far, I got my Project Reality running smoothly.

I crashed some week ago and this error showed up:
This could be the missing link and the final thing that can explain performance issues!

Re: Major Performance Issues
Same performance issues as everyone else, when there are alot of people/vehicles in the same area, FPS goes down to 20
i7 3770k, and a 560ti. It's not fully taxing the system because the gpu usage never went over 45 while playing, and the cpu never got close to maxed.

Although, this doesn't come as surprise, the culprit of the poor performance, most likely, is the increased player count. Difference from empty to a full server was 50 FPS in some places. Didn't really think the performance hit will be that big.

I fully agree with that...tested all the options,,if there's a difference,,u'll find it there,,number of players..Souls Of Mischief wrote:Although, this doesn't come as surprise, the culprit of the poor performance, most likely, is the increased player count.
