Re: No Squadleaders / Too many noobs
The problem is the entire player-base, and not that someone don't want to squad-lead. Id rather have 7 team oriented players and a total green squad-leader than having the best squad-leader in PR and 7 lone wolf minded players that has to be spanked over and over before they learn the lesson. I'd be happy to have 7 total noobs, as long as they got ears and a mic or they type fast.mat552 wrote:I always get a laugh out of people complaining "we need more squad leaders!" and then, when asked to step up and help correct the situation, they reply thus: "I don't want to".
If that's you. If you've ever said to your team that you need more SLs and then didn't step up yourself, you should uninstall the game.
You are the problem.
The reality of Reality
And I don't know many people that actually enjoy being admins and prison wardens, the majority just want to play the game... kill some enemy's... and work together with the player next to them (hopefully).
The fact that they ask why no one is going to squad-lead just makes them selfish because they just want to have fun and push the problems onto someone else, when anyone in theory is capable of squad-leading this game.

Yeah by free they mean free of teamwork...matty1053 wrote:Free Kits, is the best example.
Every game I go into it seems like, there is that "Fr33 K!tz" squad. Yes, that is annnoying. Because it's rare that they communicate.
Plus, it shouldn't be free kits, since you do not PAY to use the kits!![]()
This is the typical squad that constantly lose all the HAT / sniper / AA kits from the team as they run into the front line battle with special kits that are then unavailable by the people that actually NEED these kits.

Free kits squads should be prohibited on all servers, like they are on PRTA now.

Yes Heavy, that's what I'm actually trying to say, its a good example for the other problems I mentioned as well.
I know it sounds harsh but the PR staff should make some basic rules that must be enforced on all servers.
One of those would be: No "free kits" squads.
Just like its common sense that admins don't TK people intentionally.
It's the only way leading the players into a certain direction.
A wise man once said "Some people need to be forced to their own luck". (Please don't take that wrong lol, it just fits sometimes)

How will that help? If there's a lack of people willing to squad lead these "Free Kit" squads are still going to exist simply under a different name.Free kits squads should be prohibited on all servers, like they are on PRTA now.
Some servers are more notorious for having bad organisation than others, perhaps you should look at changing your server even if it does mean having to seed one thats half empty.
At least this way you end up playing with people thats playstyle suits your own, leave the leaderless squads to roam some other server.
This to me just seems like another rant thread, everyone has complaints but noones going to do anything differently the next time they load up PR.

I agree with that, though upon writing the start post I had hope it might change the mindset of some people.Kingy wrote:How will that help? If there's a lack of people willing to squad lead these "Free Kit" squads are still going to exist simply under a different name.
While I understand you idea behind this, seeding is not as easy as you might think.Kingy wrote:Some servers are more notorious for having bad organisation than others, perhaps you should look at changing your server even if it does mean having to seed one thats half empty.
I try to seed on some days for about 4 hours and no one is joining, not even the server admins themselves; Then looking at the player list I see them (today the MeRk were a good example while I was trying to seed their server as no EU server filled) joining another regular server (those that fill up mostly). They're not willing to seed their own servers and of course nobody else will be joining the server and I'm in for 4 hours wasted - all alone achieved nothing. But anyways - seeding is a different topic at this point.
I created it as a hope that some players realize what the problem is and hoped it might get the attention of a dev, you know. There is not much of other things I could do to change the mindset, but maybe you have an idea?Kingy wrote:This to me just seems like another rant thread, everyone has complaints but noones going to do anything differently the next time they load up PR.

If you ever looking for a good squad join mines i PTFO all the time just look for a 'INF MUM' or 'CWD mum INF' or just 'SIDEKILLER INF". You wont be bored

I think that the players your trying to address don't use these forums, if they did this wouldn't be such a problem. What can the devs do about player mentality?I created it as a hope that some players realize what the problem is and hoped it might get the attention of a dev, you know. There is not much of other things I could do to change the mindset, but maybe you have an idea?
Just play on as a Squad Leader, the best way to change peoples mindset is to show them a better one. I find a lot of the people new to PR don't really know what being a good squad leader is all about, to them the game is these leaderless squads because they've never had a better example to follow.

Sl's get better chow.
Honestly, I prefer squad leading, because I know what I'm doing and I like the way I play. I only wish I could get in my own squad every once in a while.
There are several great sl's out there whom I have played with, and I enjoy it, but the team usually needs another squad, so I do it.
I used to sick at it, but I got better over time. You can too.

Re: No Squadleaders / Too many noobs
I think bluwhoring clans are generally at fault for this. They're actually at fault for most ruined games i've noticed. It isn't just that they often prefer to play only blufor, but they seem to join the same team and leave the less organized players on the other side, who are left with no good squad leaders.

Lead, follow, or GTFO.
I would prefer squad leading more but recently I've been more impatient with people who can't follow simple orders or lack communication.
I need to get more of my active duty military friends to play.

Re: No Squadleaders / Too many noobs
I only do SL when there is no decent inf squad and like 45sec to go before start.
I?m not that good SL but always better than no squads. And it is also for training of myself, more people should do that!
Noobs who are eager to learn and play this game are really no waste of your squad, they follow your orders as the best because they want to learn and are new, you only need to answer some questions, no problem with that. In every squad should be 1 or 2 ??noobs?? give them the rifleman or AR kit and you have great teammates!

This has nothing to do with new gamers. The gameplay is to fast, leading is only hectic especialy with new players.Kovanaama wrote:Veterans, step up. Take these new gamers under your wings and show them the world of PR. Im doing my part.![]()
A slower gameplay would make thinks way easier. It dont force players to play together, play carefully etc. (detailed information search posts from me)
Thats the point, nothing else. In other major releases a lot of noobs where also online and it worked fine.

These are video games, folks. You can't make people do anything. If you're not having fun, do something else. Life is too short to spend it doing something that sucks. Or you can come here and complain. However you want to spend your time.
If you have ANY experience at all with this game, try SL'ing. It doesn't matter if you're good or not. If you know the basic mechanics, you can still teach something to the new guys. Just stick together, and you'll have a better chance to have fun. This is definitely one of those games where having fun is more important than winning.

Doesn't mean that there cannot be alleviating policies: for example, no more clan privileges from server people. These are video games, folks. You can't make people do anything. Sorry, I wasn't aware that servers had clan privileges. Do you mean, where they switch clan mates on to the same side? Or do you mean, they don't let people team switch to play on the same side? Because people will do mostly whatever they want in that regard. They don't care about fairness or good gameplay, and only care about themselves. There are few policies you can put in place to alleviate selfishness.

Well they should be kicked in that case. I don't know.CR8Z wrote:Sorry, I wasn't aware that servers had clan privileges. Do you mean, where they switch clan mates on to the same side? Or do you mean, they don't let people team switch to play on the same side?
I just hate clans. They are truly ruining the game with their behaviour.
Just recently I played like three games in a row: all cut short because the clan players were all on the blufor side. It seems increasingly that the veteran players don't even want a challenging game: they just want to bully the noobs and pretend that they're great team players because they can prevail over mobs.
