I disagree that the less cores, the better it runs the game. simply because I run the game with a Quad four flawlessly, all high settings, or at least I thought I was on all high settings. I found when I looked in the video con file my settings in pr are not the settings I have in bf2. so it seems that pr is controlling ones video settings and there is no option to manually adjust video settings in pr?
I suppose that is to eliminate those who used shades settings as an advantage?

either way, I still feel by the specs of your notebook, it's just not a powerful enough system to run pr without dealing with lag.

bf2 settings
VideoSettings.setTerrainQuality 3
VideoSettings.setGeometryQuality 3
VideoSettings.setLightingQuality 3
VideoSettings.setDynamicLightingQuality 3
VideoSettings.setDynamicShadowsQuality 3
VideoSettings.setEffectsQuality 3
VideoSettings.setTextureQuality 3
VideoSettings.setTextureFilteringQuality 3
VideoSettings.setResolution 1600x900@60Hz
VideoSettings.setAntialiasing 2Samples
VideoSettings.setViewDistanceScale 1
VideoSettings.setVideoOptionScheme 3

pr settings
VideoSettings.setTerrainQuality 2
VideoSettings.setGeometryQuality 2
VideoSettings.setLightingQuality 2
VideoSettings.setDynamicLightingQuality 2
VideoSettings.setDynamicShadowsQuality 2
VideoSettings.setEffectsQuality 2
VideoSettings.setTextureQuality 2
VideoSettings.setTextureFilteringQuality 2

VideoSettings.setAntialiasing Off
VideoSettings.setViewDistanceScale 1
VideoSettings.setVideoOptionScheme 1

actually I just tried one more time, and killed every single process i could find without crashing the system (almost the only thing was running was the windows) and then maxed out the settings and the lag was like almost gone! although there was still a no-reason drop in the FPS a bit but it is too fast to be noticeable (recognized it by fraps), so your statement could be true about my laptop's cpu, but trust me the radeon 7160m can handle PR graphics with no problem, but hell it's very dangerous to disable even the most basic processes (including the Internet Security) in order to play PR, and bare in mind I only made the test on local server with no players

My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite C850, it doesn't have a switch between the HD integrated graphics and the dedicated graphics so it's most unlikely that this is the problem in my case

Forgive me if I said anything mis-properly, but I didn't mean anything, on the contrary, I really really appreciate your will to help, many regards.

trust me, back in the day when I had a lower end pc I struggled and it was frustrating at times but I hung in there kind of like you with the persistence to do what ever it takes to get your game on.

good luck!

that razor game booster really helped me out...

ati radeon hd 3450 256mb
vista 32 home premium
3gb ram
280gb hdd
god knows my mobo....

It depends what maps...

Fallujah in the City area I get the worst fps... ranges from ~15-25.
The no lag map for me is Shijia Valley.... easily ~35-80fps.

believe me, it's not only you bud.

I get better performance in ARMA 2 OA than I do in PR on average. (But it's cause of EA and they don't like releasing the code to their engine.

Razor game booster stopped working for me since 1.1.5 game booster has caused PR to crash.

I don't know, but i think that the PR won't be playable on low-end systems any more sadly

Which is strange because even "low spec" systems are super high spec compared to when BF2 came out. Which leads me to the conclusion that something in coding is just FUBAR.

Are there any updates on optimization? 1.1.6 went backwards in optimization.

AFAIK it isn't anything to do with the coding. You must remember that when vanilla BF2 came out since then PR has almost tripled the file size due to maps, objects, settings and various other things. The refractor engine at it's highest operational state is only able to use 2gb of RAM anyways. So you can upgrade computers all you want and you won't have any noticeable improvement unless you change your GPU or CPU drastically.

It's the sad reality of playing on an engine that is 9 years old.
