Is there a modifier concerning the firing position? I recall certain weapons being effective when prone while trying to fire from any other position would have rounds deviating all over.

when deployed, it shouldn't matter what stance you are in. you just have to give the weapon more settle time after moving (with your directional keys). when un-deployed there is a modifier where the most accurate position is the prone position.

"It shouldn't matter", actually I believe it might. Firing from standing is more difficult than from prone/supported positions, I'm just wondering if it is reflected in-game. Are you saying "it doesn't matter, 100% sure", or are you saying "I didn't notice any difference"?

I say this because in the past I had found the Canadian Marksman to be much more reliable when crouched.

i said "when deployed". if i must explain.....

standing while having your weapon in deployed mode is simulating being supported on a wall, table, sandbags, window sill or whatever when your bipod is deployed. meaning all stances are equal to firing prone supported when weapon is deployed....i dont know how to explain it any better.

this is true in-game and in real life.

in-game i am 100% sure there is no difference firing in whatever position/stance as long as you are in deployed weapon mode, if your weapon is even capable of being in that mode. the only exception to this rule is the sniper rifle as it is consider to always be in deployed mode. meaning it is as accurate standing as prone.

if not deployed then it does matter what stance you are in for accuracy meaning prone is best followed by crouched.

i hope this was not to confusing.

I don't disagree with you but in-game there is a perceived inconsistency between stances depending on weapon. I can note that certain sniper rifles seem to land more assuredly when deployed in a prone position as opposed to crouch. Again I want to sight the Canadian long rifle as being guilty of this trait. Short of finding where the code is and what it says I do believe we are ultimately discussing something that is actually qualified by the developers (maybe you guys could shed some light here?).

CodeRedFox wrote:While you make a perfect sense suggestion we decide that allowing a mode which would imitate resting a weapon on a ledge or widow sill was worth the time when one might just stand up and not rest it.

The plus side to this, besides allowing more defense, is a standing player is a easy target.

this was said by a dev (retired now) back in 2010 (link to the thread) and i assume things are still the same as i have read all the change logs over the years and have not seen anything to mention any changes to the deployed mode of the ARs, LMGs, and Marksmen rifles.
