The Swastika was excluded because there are 'potential' consequences to using it (compared to other "offensive" symbols that aren't banned by governments).

Its a preparation for what 'might' happen. (PR gets banned in a country with a large chunk of its audience i.e Germany).
tbh I think we're just flattering ourselves by thinking we would show up on any government's radar. Its not really up to debate, but I've never liked the idea of censoring a historical context. I guess that's just my opinion though.

At the same time, it has gotten to the point where the German WW2 assets already use the censored flags, so even if the devs wanted to change it, there would be some tedious work involved. Most won't think its worth it.

Summation: PR WW2 will be censored and it will likely remain so.

No, it wouldn't get banned, at least not in Germany. Censorship regarding Swastikas and other banned symbols occurs only for games that are distributed by retailers, they'd have to be rated and are being looked through for illegal content. But since PR isn't a purchaseable product, no rating occurs, so nothing will get censored.

The Balkenkreuz, which is the insignia for the Wehrmacht, is not banned.
The Reichskriegsflagge is not banned either, but, if displayed publicly, can be confiscated. This doesn't apply to PR though.

It's good it's not there. Every WW2 game comes with free nazi-player delivery service and chat abuses, no need to have it in the actual game as well. I am sure that at least NEW will make sure their events will be serious gaming business, and not political discussion forum.

What goes for NEW events also goes for this topic, ask us questions, don't discuss :D Make separate threads for that :)

It's been a design decision from the start of PR itself to never delve into political or ethical conflict with PR content. WW2 or not. We also try to be neutral. For WW2 this shows in not glorifying nazi-symbols and going for neutral and altered symbols.

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing the swastika in-game but there are other factors to consider than just individual tolerance. 2 things actually. We're not sure that the legal issues are that simple to deal with and we're not willing to take that risk. That's most likely the nr1 reason. The second is the concern in potentially dealing with unfortunate situations like Nate described. The swastikas in-game would be a novelty in itself that would most likely generate unwelcomed jokes and political discussions. The fact that some people are willing to put so much emphasis in such a meaningless thing is enough to deter me from ever taking that step.

This is a WW2 minimod which main focus is gameplay and how to recreate events of that time in a way that it's fun and realistic as possible. We're not exactly spitting on accuracy when using the Wehrmacht symbol as its main flag. And I wouldn't have it any other way just because swastikas can be used.

Question answered for the 100th time. Move on to other subjects please.

Will it be possible to play the game on a local server with this launcher? (just for the alpha)

Wait, I just thought of something. When you're a German and you have the unarmed kit, do you do a regular salute like everyone else or do you do the Nazi salute?

Sure, but there's no COOP, so you'd be all alone :p .

Camo has been suffering from withdrawal ever since Normandy was removed from PR so he's going to play by himself even after the Alpha ends.

Hope I'm not too late. Do you guys plan on incorporating a type of insurgency gamemode? Possibly French resistance fighting the Wehrmacht. Maybe the French resistance fighters have to find and destroy German weapons caches, or vice versa. I think that would be pretty cool.

We don't have any plan for new factions, although we will be implementing a gamemode per objectives - somewhat similar to Insurgency.

Hey devs, I'v got another question. Are you guys up to the possibility of medics having no weapons or maybe only pistols. My friends and I just believe that it would add some extra realism to the mod as both sides of the conflict were signed to the 2nd Geneva Convention and combat medics were not supposed to carry offensive weapons. Maybe you have already discussed this among your team, although I just wanted to see what you thought about it.

Thank you very much for your work so far. Hopefully I won't play this to much before the official resale and end up sick of it like I was with the BF3 beta!

I doubt that we will ever change the kit layout of the Medic. There is a high chance of people not taking the kit if we make it like you want to.

QUestion

PR Vietnam is integrated to the normal PR. Is WWII PR going to be integrated as well?

I'd like to see that happening.
