Nice find Mineral! :) BMP-3 seems like the obvious choice. Can't wait to play this map when it's finished :-)

Yeah, like mineral said. I will probably remove both the russian T-90 and militia T-62 completely, or switch them to light APC's like BTR/MTLB/BRDM.

It would be interesting to fight over a city hall I think. I would make a city hall asset (or at least try to) but I only have Blender knowledge and I can't texture objects.

Maybe a T-72 model with the famous white turrets, and no thermals. The Russians could get a T-90 without the ATGMs, to represent older T-72Bs or T-80BVs that wouldn't carry their ATGMs into Grozny, but keep thermals as a representation of better FCS\faster target acquisition time. The excuse you can use for the (nearly) equal armor is the lack of explosive charges in the K1\K5 bricks they brought in.

Yeah having a T-72 woodland version would be awesome, I like the white turret/hatches idea but I would probably want russia to have them since they painted them like that.

I believe it was the Ichkerian forces who used the white turrets. Maybe give their T-72As a 10sec reload time, and the Russian T-72Bs an 8 second reload because the carousel could move in both directions, and have both sides have one T-62 to support, since they were quite common in Russian hands. A worn out T-90 with a rusted hull could represent the Russians, and the distinctive white turrets would make it easy to identify the Chechen tanks.

Yeah only problem is there are no textures for these, no russian/woodland for T-72 or T-62. One thing I want to try to follow is the "Armour vs Ghosts" feeling, so basically I will always try to make the armoured power asymmetrical by giving russia stronger and more assets, while countering with mobility(cars, vans etc), pickup kits and spawnpoints on militia side. The current T-62 and BMP-1 is there for gameplay reasons and represents the small amount of armoured vehicles the chechens had. I doubt I'll add anything stronger than a T-62 for them. Although I might make a Lrg/alt layer with heavy stuff on both sides.

Afaik the russians painted them white to help CAS tell friend from foe(which backfired)

Thanks Dukuu I might want to use them for Lrg layer if I'll make one, I'll let you know. I'm mostly interested in woodland without the coat of arms or with russian flags/symbols.

Unfortunately that's not possible. For this weekend I will keep the T-90 and simply give the T-62 20min respawn, for some reason I set it to no-respawn until now:/

But on saturday we will probably test the insurgency layer and that means the strongest vehicle the russians will get is IFV BMP-2.

If BMP 3 question still actual, I have some info from reliable sources about this vehicle during the winter 94-95 assault on city. A company of this vehicles (about 30 units) was destroyed in first days of January in a single accident (big fire cause mortar shell of something). A few vehicles was in service from the beginning of assault, till they was badly dammaged/destroyed.
