Snipers, like the guys in guille suits that go out and spot enemies and snipe people from long distance. Should be limited to 2 per map(id say 1, but they work in pairs). They ought to have a guille suit, a spotting scope, binoculars, and of course their rifle and side arm. This rifle should be bolt action, and for long range only.

However, a less specialized marksman class should be permitted to have say, 1 per squad(thats 1/6). These are the guys that run around with the squad and take out targets that an average riflemen cannot reach. These are the guys in normal BDU's that have everything your average guy would have, except replace the M16 with an SPR, or the AK with a Tabuk.

Snipers would be used as forward observers, and to supress enemy forces as the infantry moves in. Marksmen would be, as stated before, be the long arm of the infantry squad. If they were taking MG fire from a control point, the marksman is their to eliminate that threat.

i dont think advanced marksman get any. i think grass on the advanced marksman's helemt would be good for concealing him.

Ghillie suit is nice thingy, but if you are playing on desert map you already have a "fake ghillie suit" in form of camouflage, don't know how it is on other maps

Legendary, I'd say. How do you people even manage to do this? .. Like, you aren't supposed to post in 12 years old thread.

Rather that than a new one, I don't even think they work with PR graphics/over growth/undergrowth.

Someone would have to make one for every faction as a kit - why not alt kit unscoped for real men.

so who's going to make it?

Actually the idea about a deployable/droppable field craft-esque something (a pile of rocks or some other garbage, maybe even literally) is really good.

Though i'm not that intrigued about a ghillie that's like a default snipers skin. Well, maybe it comes as an alt kit option. Yeah, come to think of it, sniper kit has been a bit lonely left out from the whole update loop. Yes, I understand that we as a community of tacticool inf squaddies/leaders shun upon anyone who takes it and uses it like playing the Mackerel or what was that fish named popular shooter that kids like.

But sniper kit has its uses, and the fact that it's actually NOT THAT GOOD if used as it's real life counterpart is being used in many outdoor/non-urban situations where field-craft and blending in is the key for getting the kill while leaving to tell about it. Right now in PR sniper in these situations enjoys a terrible disatvantage as, for example, in long view distance more flatter terrain desert (and alike) maps he can be spotted being prone far, far away even by a regular grunt with an x4 sight. So it would make sniping a much more enjoyable fun. But the question remains: do we wan't to make sniper to be more fun? If it means more people will play it then my answer is no (lennyface).

This is just one of those things that BF2 isn't going to be able to do well guys, we've already spent our tears on this one, don't bring back the bad feelz.

Oh, what can be sweeter then the tears of DEVs. Yum, yum, yum *licks your face* [yes, homo].

Anyway, to be serious - isn't the "place/drop down cover-like stuff as rocks and shit" impossible? I mean, like the rock fetishist insurgent with expertise in home cooked demolitions. If a sniper (maybe the one from unconventional factions like militia and others) had these options, I foresee lots of interesting situations, not to mention the usefulness of blending in... with your pile of rocks, hehe! Sounds funny, but if implemented as in my fantasies, then it would be cool.

I'll prolly will draw an example in Photoshop for whole community to see. Then there won't be peace until I get put down like a dog with rabies by SEAL team 666 or until the community gets what they're asking (begging would be the correct phrase). OR better yet - the community could help develop/test this thing. But I have this strange feeling that communities most 'popular" snipers aren't those kind of people who are into helping others (and themselves in this situation). But I maybe wrong in this situatio.
