Intriguing?

How would a Engineer kit work?

Wrench = '' Pick up cover'' with a open hand picture on the slot
Mine = Bushes / rock / pile of sand

You lay on the ground, wait 15 seconds, Drop the ''mine'' wich would have no Damage effect.

If a Vehicle roll over it, The ''mine'' explode, destroying the cover.

The Sniper can recover his deployed cover with the ''wrench'' tool.

this seems possible..?

Am I the only person that feels having a special emplacement for a sniper hide will stick out like a sour thumb resulting in said snipers position being even more obvious than had he just picked a smart spot that is currently effective.

If this gets implemented I will likely notice this hide fairly easily and end up knowing where the sniper is located on top of knowing exactly which kit he has even at maximum view distance.

The proposed solution would game-ify sniping too much and most likely be very counter productive. Giving him a ghillie suit would likely just result in him being more obvious against certain backdrops, what works in the forest would not work in urban/desert settings.

for that reason just take the suit in the alt version of the kit : p

I never trully understand, why don't developers make their own engine, with base of BF2

this is the best necro ive ever seen on these forums. there arent many more necros this old that are still possible, kudos!

anyways i agree with murphy on game-ifying the sniper role, and snipers will stick out like sore thumbs, especially to experienced players (the vast majority of PR players today). at large distances it will be even worse due to the notorious white outline statics get.

and nobody's said what always gets said with these kind of suggestions, this isnt a paid dev team, if you want to see it before PR goes the way of the dinos you should start doing it yourself if you are interested. prove me and murphy wrong!

It's because the source code of BF2 is not publicly available though there are still plenty of modding capabilities.

12 year old necro, and already got an answer of developers saying it can't be done in a proper way...

Necro thread, and not really worth the effort, but i wouldnt say it is completely impossible;
Giving ghillies to alt snipers/spotters is doable, but it would require an additional kit file...
Each map could have its own ghillie textures based on the map's colors.
I think it can even be penalized with slower movement speeds and stuff, although im not sure if thats through soldiers or kits.

Still complicated, and as i said, probably not worth the effort.
