Hide (or delay) scoreboard
Scoreboard gives "out of character" information, letting you know if enemy is dead when you wouldn't be able to know about it by other means.
Watching own team kills and enemy team deaths you can get a lot of info about situation and e.g. asset state.
It forces every asset player / squad leader to use scoreboard if they want to compete in getting such information. It's typical for many vet players to open scoreboard constantly to check on enemy team death status.
Of course, make it optional so it's a server setting and people can still use it if they like it that way.

Re: Hide (or delay) scoreboard
This is a good suggestion. I mean, why else there are no kill feed? Because it's arcadey. Also looking at the score board is arcadey. Ofc, I'm also doing that right now, but I'd be happy if this "vanilla feature" would be removed.
But as PR's pace (yes, this game is getting more fast paced then it was) and mentality has changed a lot, I fear that there might be a huge opposition to this.

Re: Hide (or delay) scoreboard
a nice idea in theory, but they already have delayed your kill until the dead player respawns etc, the scoreboard also doesnt show which players are currently dead for the enemy team so you cannot work out if there tank is currently down by that alone. the scoreboard is also used for balancing reasons by admins. if 1 team has 15 kills 60 deaths, the 2nd team has 60 kills 15 deaths then you know that people need switching.

He means the number of kills/deaths per team and remove/delay the individual ones.

Dont question the wikipedia! Just because it reports different things on different languages does not make it unreliable source!

This, it's still a game, folks. And the scoreboard doesn't help at all anymore due to not seeing who's dead or not on the enemy team.Mac.PR wrote:a nice idea in theory, but they already have delayed your kill until the dead player respawns etc, the scoreboard also doesnt show which players are currently dead for the enemy team so you cannot work out if there tank is currently down by that alone.

It's not as useful as it was but you can still obtain quite a lot of information by constantly check your kills.viirusiiseli wrote:And the scoreboard doesn't help at all anymore due to not seeing who's dead or not on the enemy team.

Re: Hide (or delay) scoreboard
Like virus said, it's still a game and it's fine where it is. Sure you can check the scoreboard to see if that enemy CAS blew up on the way home or if the squad you just engaged has given up, but I think it's fine where it is at the moment. It was definitely a lot worse before when you could see who was alive or not.
Knowing who is in a particular asset is not really that helpful anyway, and you can usually tell by looking at the enemy teams names. (I'm talking about you, asset whores
)
Removing it can screw up a lot for admins, someone on enemy team could go 50-0 with hacks and no-one would know who it is for instance. Plus it's a fun thing to see when you go 15-1 in K/D
(even though it doesn't necessarily have to mean that someone is good.

Are you serious? It helps a lot. It's pretty common to down several inf and camp until you get kills to make sure it's clear and they not being revived. It's pretty common to shoot a vehicle leaving your range of sight and figure out if it's dead by own kills / enemy death counter.viirusiiseli wrote:This, it's still a game, folks. Same for the score, for example on mortars, people shoot and watch own score to know if they are hitting something.

Re: Hide (or delay) scoreboard
I was thinking about it these days. It would be nice and more "realistic" hide ALL the score/points/kills/deaths and only show after finishing the round.
Mortar squad will hate, but in real life you do not get points or know if you are hitting the target.

Re: Hide (or delay) scoreboard
In real life the person requesting mortars will probably tell you how they land. In real life the army all speak the same language. In real life you can't see where you are on a map and have to calculate the distance and angle, there's not a marker saying shoot towards here. In real life a medic can't magically put you in battle condition by stabbing your *** with an epipen.By_Zaca wrote:Mortar squad will hate, but in real life you do not get points or know if you are hitting the target.![]()
While I do agree with you that points shouldn't instantly show up, using IRL as the basis may not always be ideal (if we do, where is too realistic?). Remember that it's still a game. Points is a good way to make players feel rewarded for doing something. I can't even image how boring mortars would be without seeing either points and kills go up every now and then. It'll probably feel like the most unrewarding thing ever, as you don't know if you're doing well or completely missing your target (assuming you don't get feedback from someone).

Most of your arguments - especially the bold one - are also true for the ingame map. Should we remove it aswell?paragonid wrote:Scoreboard gives "out of character" information, letting you know if enemy is dead when you wouldn't be able to know about it by other means.

I agree with you. BUT, would be very good the players get surprised on the end score. May be can hide only the kills/deaths during the round and show only on the end score.PeppeJ wrote:In real life the person requesting mortars will probably tell you how they land. Re: Hide (or delay) scoreboard
Ok, you get some intel off of it. Sure. But the scoreboard serves more positive purposes than negative ones. If you want any info off of it anyway, you need to stare at it a lot which in turn reduces your actual situational awareness anyway. Win some lose some.paragonid wrote:Are you serious? What they did with hiding the enemy team's dead people was understandable and a good idea in hindsight, despite not liking it when introduced, removing the scoreboard completely would not be such a good idea.

OnT: How about this then.. Kill count for your team is removed or severly delayed. Death count for you team stays. Kill/death for the other team is removed/severly delayed.
