battlerecorder file metadata

Post by DogACTUAL »

Would it be possible to create a tool to read out the battlerecoder file metadata outside the barracks, like mapname, players, tickets and so on. So managing various battlerecorder files becomes easier and more organized.

It would greatly improve the reviewing of gameplay.
Not only did the DEVs totally throw off the CAS/AA balance and make TOWs useless against tanks, no that was not enough. They also had to introduce their most controversial change yet, a 16 character limit on player names.

First un-gzip it. Then good luck. Map name / Layer are very easy and are somewhere in the first few hundred bytes. Player names probably only there when someone joins, so I bet you'll have to know how to parse the "messages" there for that. I recall them not being compressed after the g-zip so if its someone specific name you could ctrl-f it.

However you're much much better off comparing timestamps to tracker files and parsing them for the data.
