Kit-limiting is A-OK
I haven't seen a forum like this, so what the hell.
I just wanted to let you developers know that kit-limiting is a stroke of genius. Pure-Genius I tell you! Man, it works wonders.
Not only does limit the the number of kits that would over be powered if there were too many of them out there, but it also stops one person to hog the kit. If you really want a kit, all you have to do is keep checking every once in a while to see how many are out there, and when its available, bam, you apply for it.
Anyway, yeah, hats off.

Experienced players actually appreciate the message spam at the top of the screen as that pesky sniper tries to immediately upon resurrection get the same kit again and is told it is "too soon" hahahahahaha!
please don't remove that message spam as it's one of the things that brightens our day.

When I was heavy AT and used my rockets, someone told me to rearm by requesting the same kit at a flag.
I did so and got told I was a "fool" by an auto message for requesting the same kit again, doh!

I've been thinking about a way for people to value their life a bit more.
It's to put a number limit on each of the limited kits... if you don't understand I'll explain:
For example you want to be sniper, but you're really cr*p at sniper. You die, you spawn, and get the sniper kit again. Then you die, and spawn another time, and get the sniper kit for a third time.
But on the fourth try, you're not allowed anymore, because you die too much with it. This would stay that way for the rest of the round. That way players would value, not their life, but their kit. They wouldn't want anyone to steal their kit.
Maybe this could use a little bit of improvement, but I hope you get the idea.

I think if the kit is taken, it should give you the "drunken maniac" kit. Basically, you get two beer bottles. One to drink (you must drink often or, well, i dunno, something bad happens) and another to bash people over the head with!
Of course while you have this kit you have the "swirly screen of death" effect.
On second thought, please don't do that, because if you did that would be the ONLY kit I would play... ever

Is this something that should be added back in? I think it would be good as long is there is a way to disabled it in realityconfig b/c for clan matches this could be a problem.'[R-DEV wrote:e-Gor']There's something like that in the code at the moment. Although it's not really used in 0.4. And it doesn't stay for the whole round.

So true. I love seeing those. I've seen one guy request the same kit over and over every 10 seconds, I was loving his frustration. He eventually left the game. haha.MrD wrote:Experienced players actually appreciate the message spam at the top of the screen as that pesky sniper tries to immediately upon resurrection get the same kit again and is told it is "too soon" hahahahahaha!

How did you guys come up with the kit-limiting idea anyway?

We have some improvements coming in the next release. Minor stuff mostly, but a lot of them nonetheless.npsxbox wrote:So true. I love seeing those. I've seen one guy request the same kit over and over every 10 seconds, I was loving his frustration. He eventually left the game. haha.
KoC had worked on some stuff that made it possible and myself and eGor cooked up the idea one day. And erm... that was about 72 hours after we decided to drop the idea of kit limiting from v0.4 because we couldn't figure out a way to make it work (we were using a totally different approach originally).npsxbox wrote: How did you guys come up with the kit-limiting idea anyway?
Hence that v0.4 kinda went back into development at a time when we figured we were nearly done

I don't see a problem with that. You have to be by a friendly CP or APC to get the kit, so its not like they can just do that anywhere. You shouldn't just roll up in a tank right on a flag, but should provide more of a support role.danthemanbuddy wrote:THere is one thing I don't like with kit limiting
They see me rollin.... pull up in a tank and they immediately request anti tank and obliterate me just like that....

This makes it annoying to admin the chat through BFCC. I get all this pink **** and I have to search thought it to find meaningful chat.npsxbox wrote:So true. I love seeing those.
