This has been suggested several times. Please do a search.Leo wrote:I don't know if there is a MEC/PLA counterpart, but what about a Javelin for the AT Kit instead of what we have now?

The Javelin is in use by US and UK forces and we will eventually be including it for both, once it is modeled and coded. And no, there is not a fire-and-forget shoulder-launched system in service with or in production by China or France or Russia (major arms suppliers to the Middle East).

You mean a soft-launch? I don't know; I hope we can get it to work like that without using too much memory resources.mavit wrote:Will it have the same firing system? i.e will it bang fire out about 20 yards and then fire the main rocket bit and shoot off or will it be firing main strate out the canister?
i hope that made sense

No, it was the one used against the tripods in War of the Worlds. Cmon man, keep up!
I don't see why the Javelin is needed, the SRAW is similair except from that it has shorter range. Plus i thought PR wanted to get away from the fire and forget warfare. If you're going to include the Javelin then include Mavericks and Hellfires on Helicopters/Jets. It's the 21st Century guys. Like I said before, Keep up.

They're manportable (disassembled) over a short distance with a crew of three or two, but can only be fired from a mount. Seems to be a very good system, but it's not a "fire-and-forget" weapon; it uses LOS laser guidance, so the operator still has to have sights on the target at all times during flight.dunkellic wrote:whats with the newest kornet rifles? The METIS (NATO reporting name Saxhorn) uses older SACLOS wire-guidance, but is more portable and can be launched from the operator's shoulder. The METIS and the Eryx are, as far as I know, the only SACLOS guided missiles that can be shoulder launched.
The Spike ATGM (designed/produced in Israel and Germany) is fire-and-forget, but from what I understand, can only be fired from a mount (which I guess is due to its design, because it doesn't weigh too much more than the Javelin when assembled).
Hellfires are on the helicopters, but they don't work like they should. And if/when they do work like they should, they aren't going to be fire-and-forget, unless they're the MMW radar guided kind. Laser-guided Hellfires still require the gunner to track the target if he is not handing it off to another designator.Mekstizzle wrote:I don't see why the Javelin is needed, the SRAW is similair except from that it has shorter range. As for the SRAW, it was intended as a replacement for the M136 (AT4) as a single-shot disposable anti-armor weapon, but the program has been put on hold indefinitely. Follow your own advice- keep-up.

Please don't flame me if I'm wrong.
I just finished reading Roughneck Nine-One. The story is about a sqad of Green B's that get caught by a mechinized force of Iraqi's. With the aid of the Javelin missle system, the took out 6 tanks, and about 5 LAV's all with single hits from the Javelin. These were all top down shot's hitting in the front quarter of the MBT all of which knocked them out. One of the LAV's burned so hot that the tracks melted into the road. This happened after the crew compartment over-pressurized and blew the supported soldiers out the back of the LAV.
I love the RPG weapons right now, but I'd like to see a Javelin attached to the CLU firing unit. One shot without reload, but the main battle tank can't take a hit from the front. IRL once activated, you've just pulled the pin on a grenade. You can't run or move quickly without having issues. But the system is fire and forget.

he just quit the AI-X team not too long ago, and i'm pretty sure he lets mods use it at their free will, that's what he said in his last release of stuff. (custom grappling hook, Desert Eagle, some AA vehicles) try registering and PMing him if you can use it
