Masive FPS drops while shooting walls
Self explanatory. Being close to the wall, using a shotgun or AR impact particles on the wall will drop FPS to simple digits. Happens on every wall that emits concrete (?) impact particles. Mostly not noticeable but in close combat, like in toilets in bunker using shotgun, it's unavoidable. I don't remember this issue happens before.

Re: Masive FPS drops while shooting walls
Thanks for the report. Can you share your usual FPS before the effects as well as the support info from the Launcher with us?

Re: Masive FPS drops while shooting walls
I have 60 FPS (capped) on every map all time. Sometimes on new maps it can drop while looking through binoculars at fields of grass/crops/flowers.
Here is video how it looks like.

Re: Masive FPS drops while shooting walls
Thanks, we have a theory what might cause this and will fix it in near future. Until then you can avoid this issue by disabling the advanced shaders.

Re: Masive FPS drops while shooting walls
Can confirm, with advanced shaders disabled this doesn't happen.

Re: Masive FPS drops while shooting walls
This should be resolved in 1.7.4.5 and you can use advanced shaders again.

Re: Masive FPS drops while shooting walls
I am having issues with smoke grenades and bullet impacts, when there is lots of them. FPS drops. Ever since the new graphics and shaders update a few months ago, my laptop has been running Project Reality very hot, increasingly so as more changes are "upgraded", so hot it will freeze if I don't put it on top of the Vornado fan in my room.Mats391 wrote:This should be resolved in 1.7.4.5 and you can use advanced shaders again.
All the graphics stuff is not worth it. I used to play Project Reality on a $250 HP laptop with no issues, but this $750 HP laptop can barely run it on low graphics settings since the updates.

Re: Masive FPS drops while shooting walls
We reverted the changes that caused the FPS issues and in our testing it improved after that. Keep in mind that creating that many particles will always have a big impact on your FPS.robert357 wrote:Unfortunately I don't see any difference.
To be honest your graphics card does not look like it will be able to handle the advanced shaders + anti-aliasing well. I would suggest to just stick to the non advanced-shaders even if that means living with Z-fighting.
