Sniper's Guile Suits

Post by Maistros »

Is there any way we could get an improvement on the suits for snipers? As it is they stick out like sore thumbs in any terrain they lay on. Even when hiding in bushes, because the bushes and grass do not render at certain distances.

I would like to see some kind of improvement on their ability to hide. Same with regular player's camo.. the US camo seems too bright against any material texture in the game.. US is too bright.. MEC/Chinese are too dark. There's no middle ground to blend in... you're always too visible, I think.

Agreed to the ghillie suits! But the standard uniforms should just match what the armies use IRL...

which in turn makes everyone in the area safer.

About time someone brought this up 8) ...
Yes it does need to be sorted out straight away other wise its just not gonna be realistic :) .
Again though not all Snipers wear Ghillie Suits, they wear normal Soldiers uniform time to time here and there that most of you would of seen in Urban locations or some forest areas like checkpoints. So what I suggest is yes either fix the class skin up by having 2 skins to choose from say for example a sniper can choose from wearing the normal webbing and normal pants/shirts all the wokrs there and a Bush hat, or the maybe NEW Ghillie suit.

Just a FYI for those who don't know. This I have discussed with a few other DEV guys extensively a few months back. If I can find the information then I'll post a link to it.

No I don't mean the same camo, but if the US were JUST A BIT DARKER.. it's as if US uniforms were glowing sometimes.

Also, the guile suits don't show up at distance. What's the point then?

How about the MEC use the German "Flecktarn" camo? That would add a nice contrast:

The PLA's current camouflage isn't correct either. Currently it's:

But it's much darker and contrasting in real life:

Also, something I've noticed about the British troops is that their current texture is way too "bright". It's almost glossy in some respects. Here's a DPM texture:

I should know, I have DPM stuff in the house, the game textures aren't like that!

Wow!
Fantastic for desert combat ;)

And I think I have read a post from devs that Brits camo looks so strange because of some error. It will be repaired in some future release.

Then how about Desert Flecktarn?

I think Flecktarn is really effective after seeing this image someone posted on here recently:

At a glance, he's invisible (aside from hands/head/feet!).

Also, this is a great website for camo textures if any of the DEVs are interested!

I don't like the idea of MEC having Flecktarn.
I'd always think I'm in OPK or PoE :P

For the sniper, I would prefer the normal uniform but with these hats instead of the helmet:

Until they can get grass to render out to your sight distance, and fix the fact that the sniper suit doesn't even render at distances, it doesn't matter what color you make it.

Well, even at closer ranges when people are trying to hunt you down... it's nearly impossible to hide (Unless you're playing Mao Valley) because your outfit is an entirely different color than anything else around you.

If an opponent has the detail level down to almost zero you could wear whatever ghillie suit combo for the surrounding terrain you liked & still be seen & zapped.

The other proble is that any time you change where you are looking, your whole body rotates in the prone, thus generating a lot of movement.

Yes i agree but i would be VERY difficult to generate head movement opposed to body movement.

second i would like to say that the german cammo is regretably very effective. and thats me saying it and i have a huge love for the british army, cammo and sorts. so it would be good to see some Flecktarn in the game.

If in doubt the Point of Exsistance mod have used Flecktarn cammo texture perfectly as they have created the german faction. So you could borrow it and change bits so it isnt copying!!!

here is a good example
