The gameplay has changed enough from vanilla with each advancement in build, even apparently hard coded rules that everyone will be breathing new woodland air once they have carefully read and reread the new guide that will be necessary to play the game then jump into servers.
For those with no short term memory, it's going to be hard on them, for all the normal people and especially regulars to the game, it's going to take a while to explore, test out and develop new squad and movement tactics with the introduced changes.
If v0.5 was the first release of the Mod, it would suck off a lot of vanilla players if put under their noses! PR isn't a "skin job", making those terrifying, laughing, floating skulls in Doom into cute teddy bears isn't going to make the gameplay any different for the long term player enjoyment. In the long run, this mod has been available for enough of BF2's life to count and has had significant changes for the better in most cases, whilst listening to the community where decent suggestions are made.

I looking forward to see how they fixed the spawncamping'[R-PUB wrote:Maistros']Well the M4 is fixed and honestly, from my point of view being a tester with the "average gamer" in mind.. these new developments are GREAT for both the inexperienced players and the vets. It gets rid of the annoying things in battlefield life. No more need to spawn camp, no more M4 laser toys, no more vehicle whoring, no more godly vehicles. Everything is well balanced out now, because for every powerful measure of attack there is an equally powerful measure of defense.
The way that the game will require collaboration from now on is so remarkable. Oh and I can't wait to see how many people crash their aircraft because they don't really know how to fly. Mwahaha.
Great news

That or:
- Remove the wrench, have repair/resupply stations (like how it is for aircraft)
- Keep the wrench for smacking purposes, but remove it's ability to fix large vehicles (MBT's, APC's etc..) and have repair/resupply stations for those.

Awesome, more user interactivity.'[R-DEV wrote:Evilhomer']Restarting your enginge in midair for helos is slightly diffrent, just had an hour of fun there on the testserver with a few people![]()
Is there going to be a guide on all the new developments, or will it be up to us to learn?

Yeah because I think February should be release month. I remember the days before 0.4, there was a Punkbuster bug. If you see a bug that needs immediate fix, don't be afraid to extend the waiting time. We will be better off waiting for a nice polished up fix then a bugged one which will require immediate patching and more work from the devs.'[R-DEV wrote:eggman']we hopefully won't go into March hehe. Locked up on features now, just sorting out bugs and usability issues.
wrt the possibility of experimentation bringing in bad things .. yeah that's definitely the case. keep in mind that at the "tail end" of v0.4 uh... well..... let's just say some of us were a bit burnt out so we just didn't have the energy to be as responsive to things like the M4 issue as we needed to have.
And I hope we can get onto shorter release cycles so that if there is an issue it will never be too long before another release comes out and fixes it.
The current plans we have around changing some fundamental dynamics will take 2 releases to round out the feature set, so er.. we do need to be careful.
Just a suggestion

Thanks a lot for all the long hard work you "R" guys put into this freakin's mod. It just keeps getting better and better. As a long time lurker in these forums I know you have a great community of support and quality suggestions. Me, I'm with the bunch of slobbering, drooling killers, salivating at news of an upcomming PR update. Can't Wait!

wow sounds awesome, i been playing PR since it really was a mini-mod. I am happy to say each version has been a great step forward in the progress of the mod. I remember before Eggman joined the team, and also Fritz and many others. Its nice to see some of the old timers still here, and to see the mod growing into the ******* child it should be! Salute!
