what about having a greater respawn time for different kits? i mean it would simulate them being better/longer trained.

what i mean by this is:

all request kits should have a 1 min respawn time if you die while using one, since they take special training to use and it would take longer to get a replacement in in a war.

spec ops and medic should have like a 40 second respawn since spec ops has a really long training time and medics need to know human anatomy so they would have to be trained for longer too.

engie, lat and granadier are standard kits- well sort of, so they stay at 30 seconds

assult are the grunts and it takes less time to train them since they are the 'basic' class so maybe dropping their time to 20 secs?

there will still be a second added per death, but i was thinking since the bf2 engine knows what kit you had when you die, wouldnt it not be too hard to add this in?

thoughts? just a suggestion...

I don't think this would work, but keep reading. Since you lose your kit bag after you die, BF2's engine wouldn't know what kit you were after a given time. However, if there were a way to disable this or to make the engine "remember" the kit you had, then yes, this would be an interesting idea.

I still prefer an RO "reinforcements" style respawning rather than how it is now. That would make people spawn in groups rather than on their own. It would make it seem like the enemy comes in "waves" with attacks being more exiting than the "half assed squad fights" you sometimes get with people spawning randomly according to their time of death, it would also mean less of the "idiot driving off on his own with a vehicle" as people would spawn the same time as him.

I think the devs know what i mean, i'm sure this has been suggested before. :shock:

interesting idea but the times that you gave are too drastic... if I have to wait 60+ seconds for some kits depending on my deaths I dont think I would be play PR... spawn times are a pain to wait for as they are.

I think the devs know what you mean too - this was the spawn system in BF1942. ;) And I will add that I loved it.

i kind of like the idea, but adding a sec when u die, i tottally hate that.
can u figure out when u are spawn camped? that sucks alot dude (im not saying that spawn camping when u are taking a flag is useless)
but im agree about the replacing kits timing respawn

hmm yeh spawn caping is a real pain in the ***, i cant see any way of fixing it though,

a rotaion system of 15 secs like in 1942 would be greate though since it would add to team work but i dont know if it can be done on bf2

wave spawning works OK when you are talking about the whole team. But BF2's squad system is far superior to what was in BF '42.

We won't be changing away from the squad system in BF2, tho we'll evaluate removing SL spawning depending on how the rally points work out.

So.. wave spawning where the pool of players is max 6 is a bit silly and probably doesn't fit that well into the squad based system.

wrt the variable spawn timers, there's some potentially interesting ideas there. The next 2 releases of PR are going to include some major changes to fundamental BF2 dynamics, so we'll probably keep some things a constant and once we have released v0.6 take a look at the game play dynamics and go from there.

I personally like the idea of wave spawning, and I really think the longer deaths for certain kits is a really cool idea. But with all the changes comming up in the future it's hard to say how well those ideas will work with that build.

I like the wave idea, except for the whole team (i.e every 45 secs all the people that have died, respawn), but no, don't do the "certainm weapons, certain spawntimes* It'll just lead to the whoring of that particular weapon, and what if you want to change kits?

easy, you change kits,

it would depend on which kit you are carrying the moment you die. not the first kit you selected. as far as im aware the bf2 engine can detect this,

Don't know about you lads, but if the medic got upped to 40 seconds and then +1, then I'd sway forever down the path as grunt.

well as for abusing a weapon so be it but in the end your team will pay for it, if everybody goes grunt then an apc comes along you can kiss good bye to all your teams tickets.

This is rather moot, since the spawning system is changing, but a wave system where all the dead squad members will spawn at the same time as the squad leader (if he is dead AND if they choose to spawn on him) would be nice, and encourage teamwork.
