As for the weapon butts, think of DoD. In DoD you had a knife and could butt too, though only with certian weapons! This would be great to take into consideration. Rifles can butt and you can pistol whip...helps when you are in those situations where you are out of primary ammo just fired the last shot in your pistols mag as you run at the guy then you just pistol whip the ******* accross the face
Leaning and Bashing.

I think both of these features would be great to see!

I can think of a way to do it, although it wouldn't be practical as it would take away some of the keys needed to use other functions.Figisaacnewton wrote:The question at this point is: can you mod leaning in?
I don't know how. I cannot think of anyway to somehow bind a key to leaning.
Djuice? Help!

Air force definition of explosives: A loud noise followed by the sudden going away of what was once there a second ago.
Retreating?! Hell no, we're just attacking the other direction!

if they got to close you woudnt need to thrust the bayonet then you could just blast a few rounds into them. thats the advantage rather than just a knife you have a gun and a knife

The current issue bayonet for the M16 series is the M9.Tom#13 wrote:i think bayonets should definately be included. by the way does anyone know what an m16 bayonet is like. i know if i was in a battle id rather have my knife on my gun.

The Marines are starting to issue a new bayonet made by Ontario Knife Company, called the Multi-Purpose Bayonet (manufacturer model OKC-3S).

Yea but then you make noise. With a knife and the target unaware of your presence you could simply walk up behin him grab his arms and slit his throat - minimal noise and quick.Tom#13 wrote:if they got to close you woudnt need to thrust the bayonet then you could just blast a few rounds into them. thats the advantage rather than just a knife you have a gun and a knife
Also the clipping isses are an option that can be turned off in allmost every game i know off.
It is there to serve as a triangle reduction (things are not solid). I know for sure HL2 engine has an option to turn of this feature which allows realistic body pileups and people not blasting in to a wall with part of the body through the wall etc. with it turned on, bodys drop in to each other.

paladin, can you extrapolate on your idea? I have seriously lost sleep trying to figure out how to do this, but i just cant figure it out, unless Bf2 allows you to just go 'hey q is going to make the camera move and this animation happen now!', i would think leaning would have to replace something else, but i can't figurer out what you could replace that would just make you lean...

you could have it as your secondary fire possibly on the same weapon the way DCR did 3rnd burst and sngl shot or you could have it as secondary fire for a firerate but then you couldn't scope so there goes urban sniping, great idea but with the engine i dont think its possible but devs would need to say

That's pretty much how I'd do it. Although I'm not sure you can bind Q to do it. You can't really bind it to a key, but to a function. The function is bound to a certain key. So, for example, I'd set up the anim and cam to look left and bind it to primary fire and same for right except alt fire. I don't really know how possible it is, but it seems feasible to me.Figisaacnewton wrote:'hey q is going to make the camera move and this animation happen now!', i would think leaning would have to replace something else, but i can't figurer out what you could replace that would just make you lean...

Im missing what you mean? sorry?Pak wrote:Would you be able to animate the model and collision model in 3rd person too? If it isn't possible for other players to hit you while you do it, then its obviously not worth it.
do you mean is it possible to be attacked while your attacking or not? sorry its late here now :S

I mean, if they implemented it, it would need an animation and changed hitbox in the world view so people can see/shoot you if you lean to poke your head out around cover. Otherwise everyone would just use it to shoot at people without being able to be seen/shot.TerribleOne wrote:Im missing what you mean? sorry?Pak wrote:Would you be able to animate the model and collision model in 3rd person too? Ah your refering to leaning.
If leaning was implemented i think they wouldent leave it with rough edges.
If its implemented in 1st person then it wil allso be done in 3rd person and obviously the hitboxes will move with the body. so if your head is peeking around a corner then you gotta hit the head and there gone.
is that what you mean?
