Hi, first, might I express my admiration towards the mod team and their emerging product but follow that with a question on their (and the mod communities) ambition towards the BF reality modification.
Forgive me if I've got the wrong end of the metaphorical stick, but brosing these forums I've come under the impression that the direction people wwish to take is towards a system where weapon accuracy is very high and damage capacity very low.
Personally, I believe this is not a recipie for a good battlefield simulator as it results in the game becoming a varitaion of counter-strike where itchy trigger fingers count for more than tactics. Given that cover cannot be properly utilized in a computer game, while each player becomes an expert marksman with perfect proficiency, the balance is already squewed towards the assialent.
Most battlefield accounts I've read and listened to (I have many friends serving in Iraq) seem pretty consistant in stating that its pretty hard to hit opponents at all, let allone unerringly put rounds in their heads. (though as indicated I'm no soldier so am happy to be contradicted). Even if the soldier can shoot with superlative accuracy on the shooting range. Exaustion, adrenaline and fear means that acutual combat situations are far more tricky.
Personally I would far rather the realism Mod emulate Brothers in Arms than counterstrike. Rewarding tactics such as supression and flanking than point and click skill.
Thanks for your time.
A query on the mods direction.
