Couple of suggestions!

Post by Desertfox »

I wanted to get this posted before I forget!

- "Attack" smoke and all others can be seen by enemys (not sure if possible)
- "Attack" smoke and all others cannot be placed by simply aiming, make it the same as rally where it lands at your feet

lol! Im sure I had more but I decided to play instead of posting so I forgot =(

EDIT - How about instead of smoke you get a little "pin" that does not show up on the ALT like the flags do and is only visible in your minimap and when you hit "M"?

Not sure about this. In reality, people don't throw attack smoke, they just pinpoint a certain location on a map and like "let's go there". If anything should be done with "attack"-smoke, I suggest we remove it completely.

Lol, if the SL has to put down attack smoke on, for example, a flag (like a RP), while there are enemies there... he won't be able to put it down at all, since he'll get shot within the second :D .

Remove the whole thing. Everyone knows where to go if they have seen map or have 3D-map turned on anyways. Never saw the point of the tactical smokes in the first place.

Right now the attack smoke can be used as like a mini-cheat. Say your flying the A-10 and teh commander is giving you attack orders, I had a guy doing that for me yesterday. I racked up like 15 kills in NO time since you can strafe it from FAR away.

I agree, with the pin idea, I'd like to see just a marker on the map, not on your HUD. Because even if there was attack smoke IRL, I kinda doubt you sould see a floating orange sword with [246m] under it. That part's dumb as hell. And as desertfox said, PLEASE DEAR FRICKIN GOD do something about the noobie 1 man A-10 squads on Al basra who get precise coordinates from the commander because he can see everything. I frickin hate getting set up for an ambush and then getting strafed by an A-10 that is way outa sight because he got the magic pinpoint attack marker from the commander who can magically see my squad getting ready from a non-existent satellite. :x

Sorry if I'm insulting some of you guys that can do nothing but fly A-10s but they need to be nerfed A LOT somehow. Either on how they acquire targets or their firepower. Because as I said in the last post it's complete BS for someone to get a kill via being in your own squad and letting the commander spot targets for you from outer space.

I agree with removing the smoke if it's not a big deal to remove. I would rather the devs work on something more important if removing this would chew up alot of man/woman hours.

As for the A-10 and commander putting the hurt on the MEC/insurgents I think you have to look at it as a stop gap right now. From what I have read, and I could be wrong, the devs are working on implimenting some sort of laser designator or some form of ordinace targeting device. At this point it isn't possible for the SF guys to do that so the commander is doing this in a round about way  This is just my humble opinion though.

EDIT: My point was not to take the power away from the A-10 to deal with this.

Agreed with: Removing smoke, but keeping the Map and 3D map marker.

By map do you mean the ALT and it shows the meters and everything?

Desert, are you crazy?

A-10s should be powerful. They are IRL. As long as the map is balanced it's no problem.

Ya they are powerful IRL but they also aren't used inside a city. The chaingun would cause too much collateral damage. They would call in a helo or a bomber for a city use now-a-days. Cus you get too much flak if you accidentally hurt the mosque in a city or some bullshit like that. A-10s don't use smart munitions far as i know and therefore probably wouldn't be providing support inside a city, and especially wouldnt be strafing everything inside it with the chaingun.
