I say no ambient sounds. Leave it as it is b/c the game sounds are enough.

have any of you searched for an EXTRACTION server running STREET? most of the servers are empty.. but you have to change the game type from CONQUEST to EXTRACTION to see STREET, because it is XTRACT only.. :) seriously, go try it.. the sounds are great!!

Why dont you add distand gun sound? I mean Realtime, not scripted shit.

I mean, like in albashra, than when firing a AK47 at moque, you will hear echoes (not really echous but I can explain it better) at the facility.

You should hear the distant tanks firing their mainguns, you should hear the A-10 MG tear and not just reciev the sound of the bullet hitting the ground around you...

Adding realtime distant sound will make this mod 100% more immersive! Reality for the win!

and is it at all possible to centralize a sound liek that? say to like a city area or within a certain range of a mosque? it would be kinda dumb to hear it all the way at the airport in basrah.
I think in vanilla bf2 in front of the mosque on the jalabad mosque you can hear something that sounds like a call to prayer or something

It's not possible with the BF2 Engine.

Too cheesy IMO, the game should render its own ambient sounds! Distant gunshot sounds should be player made. Although I would like to see a call to prayer lol.

We did an urban combat scenario for military training, they played all kinds of ambient noise over loudspeakers - gunshots, artillery, mortars, screaming, helicopters, jets. Really loud stuff almost non stop. Then partway through it a call to prayer started up in the noise. It was quite amazing really. Between my squadmates, 'fake' gun, and all of the sounds it really made me feel like turning the next building corner could be my last.

But that was a scenario and our guns didn't make their own noises, we didn't have helos or real jets flying around, and no one was dying. The game sounds can be confusing enough already - I run ultra high settings with Xfi and there are a TON of things to listen to. If there were ambient gunshots going off I'd probably end up chasing one of them around only to find empty space. Its too bad about the call to prayer though, because I think it would add a lot. Hearing that come over in the scenario was almost chilling.
