Jay you make a good point, teamwork usually comes down to the player. Not to say changes to the mod can't enhance teamwork it just can't insure it.
The idea of only the squad leader having the map is a bit scary for me. If it is to enhance teamwork you are removing the situational awarnes needed to be a team. Now getting rid of the minimap from the non SL is fine with me, but let us still have the map with are squad on it. The problem is this is a game with limitations compared to real life. There is no planning phase before the battle, theres not a detailed enough map i.e. lat and long to say hit these co-ordinates, you can't even point at things without saying "boat spotted" and hope its close enough to what your talking about.
If you could stand beside your squad leader and have him move a cursor over the map to mark or to illustrate what he is talking about and if I could put lines and points on my own map this could work. Until you can do some simple, IRL, things like this its hard to support the removal.
Cheers,
To encourage teamwork

I think maybe getting rid of the HUD completely would be a step in the right direction. When you check your map, then the HUD appears showing map/clips left etc. Getting rid of the map entirely is a little scarey though...I really think that it compensates for the lack of Situational Awareness that video games dont have compared to real life. Plus I think getting rid of the HUD will increase the immersion level. Right now I just kinda run with my squad and watch the mini-map to see what guys are doing...theres no need to keep an eye on people or whatever. Leave the Minimap GPS for the SL though.

That is your assumption. And this is for realism purposes. A lot of people find A LOT of fun in realism. And you think it takes away from immersion because you assume that a SL will yell at the teammates? If anything this idea adds immersion.jackal22 wrote:i 100% disagree, it will not add anything beneficial to the mod.
i find myself checking the map alot because its handy, whether i am sl or a squad member.
it one of those measures that is designed to get the 2 lone wolves, (play on a good server- often there are none) into line at the cost of screwing over the team.
it takes away immersion, SL will get pissed off at people who keep asking, 'are we there yet'
it will also stop your squad from using tactics like dividing into 2x3 and flaking a position from 2 different sides because you wont see anything.
sorry i know you just want to stop lone wolves, but this is not the way to do it. There would be too much colaterol damage.

Read my first post. Vehicle units will have their on-board mapping and radar system (abstract radar).Nimble wrote:So ... uh, what happens when some kind fellow in an a10 decides to go do some strafing runs and 'Uhoh' he can't see any of his team mates on the minimap?![]()

no one is forcing anyone. It's just an incentive to work as a team and not run around like a ******. No one is forcing you to play project REALITY.Jay wrote:Eh... I don't really like this idea. I cant say why though. It just seems like you're trying to force teamplay onto people, and I don't think it really works like that. In my experience, its the maturity of the player that dictates if he'll be helpful in a squad/team, not the fact that hes only there to get a map/shiny-gun-toys. Also, if this was implemented, people would eventually just find a squad with a SL that doesn't boot them for being a lone wolf.
