I don't particularly care how it's done. A 3rd person view just seemed like an easy enough solution: Leaning, hand held mirror, or a camera on a stick they're all good.Darkpowder wrote:Personally i despise the 3rd person FPS games, they utterly suspend realism, with a pseudo OOBE (Out of Body Experience).
The reason you shouldn't often have to peer around corners as an individual, aside from popping head out and then glancing back, is that other members of your squad or supporting squads should be able to spot enemy in that location without having to expose yourself. sure it happens sometimes and you may even get ordered to stick your head above the sandbags to see where that enemy sniper is... O.o
well positioned, elevated or highly penetrating or explosive suppressing fire, usually gives members of your squad or indeed you chance to put your head out and have a look at what you need to see.
But anyway how exactly are members of the squad going to be able spot the enemy with out them exposing themselves if you can't do it yourself in the first place??
If you have someone preplaced on a roof overlooking the road that's all fine and dandy. But that normally doesn't happen, your squad spawns at the rally point and starts moving towards the flag when they come across an intersection. So with your plan the only way to cross is to get someone to cover that road which would require you to wait for someone in the squad to find a roof and climb it just to tell you if the coast is clear or not and then wait for him to climb back down and rejoin the squad? That's a pain in the ***; a look around corners option would be so much more efficient.
How is this different then someone hiding behind a box or in a window till you get close then bam easy kill?ironcomatose wrote:I think they should leave it the way it is because if they put anything in it that would allow people to look around corners without showing themselves you would have "corner campers". If any of you have played Socom for the PS2 then you know what im talking about but let me explain for the others. People will just wait around the corner watching you get closer and then they pop out to shoot and you had no idea they are there and they get a cheap kill. It is really annoying.
At least the ability to look around things would help cut down on being ambushed.
