Any issues with the new Wake Island map?
Any balance issues or other problems with this map? I have not yet had the chance to try 1.3 due to system troubles. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Meh, it's not the same map (since it's not the same game). To point out a few things...
BF1942 had slower vehicles, thus the map seemed larger. This time around, it takes no more than 6 seconds to get from end to end (carrier to other end of island) and about 20-30 seconds to drive from one tip of the island to another. This causes non-stop flag hopping so the only way to really be "effective" is to either pick a spot and stay there or be as mobile as possible and go where the action is (at the risk of your eyes bleeding from all of the movement).
As usual, DICE desides to put their completely useless blackhawk on the carrier. Total waste of space and death trap. A round usually starts with some optimistic folk who think they can do a cool "insertion" (as the military quite frequently does) with their beloved blackhawk. Insertion usually ends 3 seconds after takeoff.
Easiest tactic on this map is to grab a unarmored vehicle and drive your *** from flag to flag. When you die, try to spawn and grab a plane and bail over a flag. When you die, grab another unarmored vehicle. Just repeat that process and your team will be victorious.
In my opinion, the only decent maps in BF2 are urban maps, simply because they open more tactical possibilities. Otherwise, every maps just tries to satisfy every single person by placing a 2 military installations within 1 mile of each other, crammed with tanks, helos and aircraft.

I like it actually...I find the best way to get a flag is by boat..This only works if you can drive like crazy past the tanks, choppers, rockets and a whole other number of bad things......
I find the map really good for infantry battle's....lots of good places to hide...It gets really fun when theres 50 guys on one little sttrip trying to get one flag...
The choppers are USELESS Enemy jets just dont stop shooting at ya.
Things are pretty even between the both sides...allthough once a flag is taken things get interesting...
This one is really good because its nice and small....Overall its a good map

I would like to ditch the choppers for the US....just have a full on RIB assault....dodging tank shells alone the way...
But this map is a snipers dream...those bushes blend in so well with the uniforms.

Nothing against tanks and other vehicles, but because of the size of the maps in BF2 the vehicles should really have triple or more spawn time as normal, or even remove the heavy tanks ( they are overkill on such a map and in the city maps, too ). Then the game would be more infantry based and the vehicles would only be used what they are meant for: support. Just as solodude said. There are helobitches that can only fly helos or tankbitches..I recently played against such noobs, really annoying.
Maybe you could also slow down the refit and repair speed on carriers and helipads so the one has to stay longer or do a few more flybyes. They should'nt be able to rearm on one pass.
Ribs are enough on wake island, but in every game i played on this map they were almost never used. Mostly they were using the helo or the jets, no wonder the usmc lost, they never had ground troops

I was playing today as china. we only had the 2 flags on the south of the island. the US was trying to push down from the air field, and we were trying to hold them off. I don't think anyone was useing the boats, and the airpalins were just fighting eachother. most fun i've had in weeks. The next round was tipical flagg hopping, i don't know why the two rounds were so different.
Usualy play as KlutzPal

Solo and i had alot of fun that round. the boats would just speed past the US arty island and then come under MG fire, theyd try to swerve and dodge but never made it. also the helicopters didnt stand much of a chance going anywhere near us. even a bad tanker like myself was able to score a direct hit on a BH and grab 4-5 kills.
