Wake up boys and girls, the powers that be have decided to kowtow to certain pressures and that is a trickle down process.
PR can't get sued ( in the US anyway )for what we say in the forums but they are liable for what they put in the game and the perpetually outraged will find out and cause problems.
Nobody wants to see 4-1-07's little joke become a reality.

You make a good point about the pressures being put on the devs and their responsibilites. I agree with what your saying.

We can't tell people to just relaxe because were joking around, people have the right to feel how they feel.

Now I will re-state what I said originally we could add taunts etc. if they are not race, religion or creed related. I do like the idea of making it a local sound not a radio spam. I would quickly tier of the constant spam, but it would be nice to celebrate a good assualt or take down.

I appreciate what your saying and I to didn't want to turn this into a religous debate. The only reason it was turned into a debate is the fact that there is very little chance of taunts being put in game if there is relegion involved. The civilians in game are middle eastern yes but there is still no relegion involved in the game (assumed relegion yes but not explicitaly stated). The killing of civilians in game is not encouraged and killing them incurs a penalty. I know that it seems silly to accept that killing in game is ok where a statement is not. But the current political climate is such that the killing in game is ok, offending a religion is not. I don't decide these things. What does or does not offend me in game is not really important. What would offend me is if a group of people were offended and put a stop to PR. As such that is why I don't support inputing something that has the potential to create such a problem, regardless of the majority of opinions.

the suggestion were talking about is about offending people. the other team as such or a particular player.
If you want to see this mod as a e-sport thing ( C5 tourney for example) it wouldnt fit cause its not sportsman like.
if you want to see this mod as a game getting so close to reality as possible, well I guess it should be in then. fighting forces offend eachother with awful words like sandnigger, infidel and such.

I would like JO style taunts.... " don't get me killed" or " you big fat pink pig" ( w/ the French accent).
If you wanted to get complicated you could make them regional generic epithets concerning the lack of ability to fight, a lack of familiarity with your chosen weapon, ....etc etc.....skill based insults, plenty offensive but in a bland PC sort of way.
We have members from most cultures represented in the game so we could have a contest to include the nastiest but cleanest PC insults.
It would be a great PC insult contest, winner gets his or her insult included in the game.
BTW,, has anyone ever translated the taunts in RO to see if they are saying what the text reads ?

Obviously 75% of you guys never played BF:Vietnam or any of the various mods for BF1942, which had taunts. Not a single time did I see a problem occur because of these taunts. It merely added atmosphere to the game, no more, no less.

Note: These taunts were localized so that they wouldn't consistently be blaring over the radio. It's just like in BF2 when you are standing next to a soldier who happens to say something using the CommoRose: you hear it locally rather than over the radio.

There's no reason this feature couldn't be implemented. (However, I do believe that putting in a religious taunt is a bad idea)

can you all please lighten up. like that other guy said, this is a GAME. based on REALITY. reality is not pretty. there is no political correctness BS in war. i never even thought for a minute this thread would get so political. if no insurgent was yelling allah ackbar, and i was suggesting adding it to the game then i could totally understand the outrage over the suggestion but in REALITY thats what insurgents do.

so can anys dev put some kind of conclusion to this? like tell us whether this is just completely out of the question or if your possibly interested so that this thread does not get any uglier.

That's why I don't think it should be in the mod. Saying "Oh my god" is taking the Lord's name in vain, which is against the 3rd commandment - so it's offensive to Christians. So, putting "allah akbar" in the mod is the same thing, it should offend Christians as well as Muslims.

Some people will say who cares if it offends people, and I guess if you have no morals then it would be hard to explain why it matters, but then you could at least understand reasons like these:

- Why stir up a bunch of shit for no good reason? The game is fine without allah akbar in it, so it's not worth starting so much shit over it

- Why alienate segments of the population from the game, it would hurt the popularity of the game

- What about tolerance of other religions? When you have no respect for someone's religion, then where is the tolerance?
