The Starwars Mod in BF1942 had remote controlled robots. You entered a control station and could move the robot like any other vehicle.

Smacktard idea, no offence...

Disarming IEDs with robots would be way better, since theres no way to get rid of them, you can only kill the guy, who has the detonator, but the explosive stays there..
By the time the robot gets there, the IED would explode anyways...

There's no reason to call this a "smacktard idea" either. The idea of a remote controlled vehicle was successfully implemented into many mods for BF1942, including Forgotten Hope. Granted, it may not be the foremost thing dev's should consider, but it certainly isn't a bad idea.

Re-read....guy with the detonator is killed, but the explosives stay there...so are you just gonna carry 5 Kg of C4 around, so it will add the the mushroom cloud, when you finally get jihaded?

the combat robot used in irak is equipped with an m249 not a fifty cal because of size and weigt limitations and there is no way you can get small robot with 4 at4. BTW the french are developping a combat robot to and altough it is alot bigger than its american equvalent it still mounts a gun that fires a 5.56 cartridge
in they video they said that the robot could carry an MG and a rocket but not that it could carry both at the same time

I think PR devs are better off modelling something more productive to the mod for now.

Yeah. Although the idea is definitely realistic and feasible, I don't think it should be on the devs' list of priorities either.
