I thought that at first but it's just the terrain, you can see it while the chopper is still on the way down at one point.

You see the light terrain at about 2:35, while the chopper is definitely still in the air.

I like the idea - or at least redoing the explosions. Even if it's a bit over the top it will add to the excitement, tension and atmosphere in general.

well if a British Tornado, shoots down an Iranian Jet, that jet is going to go up in a HUGE fireball. Especially because of the fuel, and leave a long trail of black smoke on its way back down to earth.

Here are some screens though you have to play it to get the full effect.

So I am wondering would it be possible to implement something like this into PR.

I am sure if you went to the Xww2 and asked them Very nicely................

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaassseeeeeee! I will give you a cookie.

PS. I wish FH had those and especially on a Battle of Britain, it would have been awesome and really realistic.

PPS. I know this may seem off-topic, but it isnt, it is a suggestion, for PR.

PPPS. NO, I havent used photoshop!!!!
My uncle helped produce that mod. He was one of the main DEVs.

We're short on effects/particle creators & have more immediate priorities, but if anyone in the community had a go at tweaking the current effects or preferably even dissecting the 2142 explosions & recreating something similar in bf2 (some nice ones in 2142, esp of vehicle explosions with smoke tendrils) then we'd gladly help out/give r-con status etc.

If anyone can do this on the side it would be great!

BTW: Someone was asking if those types of explosions are realistic, yes and no.

I've got to say, those effects in XWW2 were the only thing that FH was missing.

Thing is, explosions might not always look like Van Damme building-incenerating fireballs, but they sure as hell don't resemble yellow blotches.

PR would do well to incorporate some of that kind of crisp detail to the effect. Hell, it could just be a texture change. I've been experimenting with such effects in LW (lightwave 7.0 thru 9.0) for years now. I wonder where I should offer some help?

also here is a video of chopper being shot down...its a hell of a video.

If PR was like this, I would drool. But that video doesnt have that much of explosions does it? 1 explosion, and the pilot tries to manage the thing, cant, outta control to ground. Idk if he died or not, but its not like he went to charcoal and fell to the ground like a rock.

No more dying vehicals guys. Its unrealistic, and doesnt happen. Yes planes do turn into a firey wreck as they fall to the ground on occasion. But not all the time.

I agree 100%. Only heavy explosives and tank rounds should be able to destroy vehicles, all others would simply disable them.

FH for BF1942 also had killer effects. I would think with BF2s engine and use of particals, and transform and lighting would make for better looking explosions. The ones for weapons are just killer. But vehicles look like total **** comepaired to the ones you get when arty comes down and hits the dirt.

Yes. And instead of nondescript grey blobs, it's lightly textured gray blobs.

Oh, and FH's pyro graphics weren't much better than vbf1942's (too busy making the rest of the mod playable). Those guys at XWWII had their shit together. That's the kind of thing I'd like to bring to PR.

With as little effort as possible (my current job has me in the office some 10 hours a day, with additional work at home and over the weekends).
