shotguns in the .6 beta are fixed?
Are the .6 beta shotguns the "fixed" ones? the buckshot still has an unrealisticly huge spread. the slug is fine, but man, is that buckshot inaccurate. its effective range is about 25 meters tops. shouldnt it be effective out to 50 or more meters?
Someone please tell me that the above is irony.

Well....I usually go for a flock of birds when I shoot, that way I get atleast one hit. My favourite are seagulls.SethLive! wrote:Are the .6 beta shotguns the "fixed" ones? the buckshot still has an unrealisticly huge spread. the slug is fine, but man, is that buckshot inaccurate. its effective range is about 25 meters tops. shouldnt it be effective out to 50 or more meters?

60 Meters?
Jesus, what kind of load are you using? I'm lucky to get 50 yards in a tight pattern with an 870.

From here:BUCKSHOT; The industry standard for the spread pattern of a 12ga shotgun is 1" per yard. So taking this into account the shot pattern at 15yds would be 15", 20yds would be 20" and so on. The average width of a human torso squared toward the shooter is 18"; this target area drops down to 12" if the target turns at an angle. This patterning formula has been proven time and time again using standard police shotguns. With this data we can assume that the maximum effective range on a man size target with the 12ga buckshot is 18yds. This is seven yards shorter than our officers qualify with their handguns. If the target turns the maximum effective range drops down to 12 yds. It is also common for officers to be aware of the pattern or spread on a shotgun and they will often sacrifice accuracy out of belief that some of the shot will hit the target.

I'm pretty sure they are being fixed in the next build. Lets hope so at least, its disappointing having all these cool guns and the shotgun being so lamo. It'd be a real blast to be able move through thealleyways bucking people with the shotty

quick some one sig that quote.'[R-DEV wrote:xW0LFx']you *******, now he dosen't have my quote anymore![]()
i like the shot guns and have no problem with them.
but i see two problems with the tweaking.
1) it doesn't fire a tone of BB, bit rather something like 6-12 projectiles IIRC
2) if it would have a extended range to something like 60m people would still complain its either too weak or too powerfull.
i loved it in .5 for killing medics and spec ops as you could kill a unarmored guy with one hit, the problem is now all classes exept spec ops now ware body armor.
i would add more but i got to zip off to work.

I have played ghost train in 0.5 and wiped out whole squads with the shotgun (you underestimate the level of my sneakeniss - Mr. Deeds). But on Basrah when you engage people at 50yds your done. I think people are expecting to much out of 00 bucksot. The slugs should be sledge-hammers out to 100yds though I don't think they penetrate body armour very well. Still it would do some internal damage from the impact energy

I think the shotty should be 1-shot kill at 15 meters(maybe 20) and 35 if you have no body armor...even if you have body armor your extremeties will be grosly disabled after being whacked at such close range with 00 buckshot ( BIG LOAD). The issue is not the load being fired...its the REDICULOUSLY fake spread. These are full-choked *** kicking machines within 35 meters...with 50m's still doing some damage. No nerfing...I'm not saying it doesn't work now or anything, thats not the point. Its that the gun doesn't handle anything like its RL counter-part and that is the ultimate goal.

on another note, i though shotties were fased out of most european armies and something to do with geneva convention saying they were in-humane but it was a grey area and some units in us still use them
thats what i remember, i dont know if its true or not but i read it some where i mean it makes semi sense, when was the last time you saw some one going into combat with a shotty that wasnt a specific close quaters or anti terrorism job?

Actually, the choke is what makes all the differences.robbo wrote:All depends on the type of shell used barrel length, but yeh i agree the buckshot spread is like a sawn off shotgun.
Anyways, I think birdshot already answered the question. Buckshot just isn't too accurate, it's not meant to be accurate. Slugs on the other hand can reach out pretty far, especially with a rifled barrel though I don't imagine you would change your barrel out in combat too often.
Thanks luizinhuu for the find
