Interesting idea. Few thoughts though:

- Once a mine or explosive device is buried, the maker identifying it to friendly troops and vehicles should become invisible as well. This would put emphasis on good communication and coordination between squads and the commander. Maybe have a commander tool to mark minefields on the maps.

- It should take 30 seconds or more do hide a mine.

- If you stop "digging" a mine and restart, the timer should not restart but be cumulative.

- Allow this only on surface that are malleable (i.e. not on concrete, asphalt and similar).

How about the devs edit the mine and cover the mine with a clump of dirt and when we drop the mine on the ground, it looks the mine is buried but it's actually on top of the ground with the dirt clump on top of it making it hidden.

Dropping a mine automatically hidden is bad. I like the idea of requiring time to hide a mine.

It takes time in real life. Plus, having instantaneously hidden mines really sounds like a bad idea however I try to look at it. On the other hand, would be nice if you could cover a mind with dirt on a hard surface instead of digging it down in the ground.

What if you made the shovel capable of disarming mines. Then made it run a check when you disarm a mine to see if a shovel was used, if the shovel was used the disarmed mine is replaced with a new "invisible" one.

I'm not a coder but I was just thinking out loud

We got the wrench disarming mines, because IRL you need to disarm their arming mechanism, not dig them up with a shovel and let them blow up in your face

If you devs start to get to work on the mines I hope you take a look at this page for a new model possibly.

The M15 just does too much damage for the type of mine it is according to this.

Actually if I recall?

The guys of POE2 toyed with this idea. Not to remodel the terrian but if you wrenched a mine or something along those lines it sank it deeper into the terrian so that only the very top part was there. If you would like I can send Drunken over here to spot more details.

A landmine takes a lot of pressure to blow up. It would be perfectly safe to dig it up.

I like geogob's suggestions.
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. ~Voltaire

If you are a serious PR gamer do not put up with the chaotic public server gameplay! There are much betteroptionsavailable. Also, be sure to avoid making these common basic mistakes.

Unless its equiped with an anti-handling device. Then its a very bad idea.
