smart bomb idea!
i've went through the posts for smart bombs and things like that. But i think a laser designer isn't what you want. Maybe something that can be shot and attach to objects well at the same time putting out a heat source for missiles. Or bombs form a f-15 that the co-pilot can use. but has the same screen for the missiles but can look strait down lock onto the dart or what ever your want to call it. Deploys the bombs and they trace the target which might be done by giving the missiles a bombs look and hide the flames form the engine and have then aim strait down or almost strait down, also slow down there speed so they fall close to the speed of a falling bomb.
i have seen weapons messed with tons of thing done that share small parts of this. all you would need to do is put it all together.
if anyone else things this could work please say so.
there better

but instead of throwing the thing you shoot it. and once you press the trigger it quickly attaches to the target. which will last for a fair amount of time like maybe 30 seconds and takes 1- 2 minutes to recharge. also for any bombers on your side it shows a destroy marker where ever it target is in that 30 sec time period. also this is very possible to.

Yep, been suggested before.
There already is a heat source lock on with the AGMs.
You're suggesting to use somehting that already was in BF2v?
I don't understand, what is your native language?
I'm not sure bombs "recharge".

He's suggesting that the heat source be used for LGBs.
Which, AFIK, is exactly what is currently undergoing development. Though last I heard there were problems making it "sticky"

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

ok i'll make it simple for you. also read it carefully instead of fast.
you get designator that instead of firing a laser it fires a sticky dart or something like that that puts off enough heat so heat sensors can lock onto.
you also have the f-15 were the co-pilot controls the bombs instead of the pilot and take away the laser guided missiles.
but you give the bobs the laser guided missile lock-on ablity by giving the missiles the bombs look. also you slow down the missiles speed so it matches the speed of a falling bomb.
and so you can go them to fall right you have them aim at a 90 degree angle to the aircraft or less so it looks like it's falling.
but you would have the bombs fall flat instead of pointing down.
if you didn't get that then WTF!

The devs have said they wont be giving F15 bombs.
I highly doubt Sticky Heat emiting Darts exist in real life.
Hey, it's not my fault,I don't understand what he's trying to say.

I think something like this may have been suggested before, although not in this exact way. I am not a coder, but I can tell you, our team and others have tried many different ways of being able to "hand-off" targets for the strike aircraft using scout vehicles and infantry kit items. We haven't been able to make it work, so far.
The "sticking missile magnet," though an interesting possibility, isn't quite realistic, since either your aircraft or another laser-emitter has to have a line of sight to the target until the munition hits it or another form of terminal guidance activates. Firing one "projectile," rather than a stream that must be kept on target, to designate the target means that the "back-seater" or other designator only has to see the target once and fire the munition, then go on his merry way. Not much teamwork or risk involved. Those are things we are aiming for (no pun intended) in this mod.
@ Vikingo: You're treading a very fine line. Don't be a prick.

I know this has been suggested before, and probably tried by the Devs, but hey: How about we make the SOFLAM shoot a beam/projectile/whatever that generates a "target box" where it hits, and the LGBs can lock on to this box in the same way that heat-seeking missiles lock on to their "target boxes" (e.g. engines and Molotovs)?
More guns and bullets make bad guys go away faster,
which in turn makes everyone in the area safer.

That's the first time I've seen a DEV call Vikingo out for his antics. If he were any other user, he would have been permabanned a long time ago.'[R-DEV wrote:Eddie Baker']I think something like this may have been suggested before, although not in this exact way. As an interim measure, could you have the heat source, like ones in the smoke on Kashan, as a portable object and then a player on the ground could place it like an infrared strobe ?
Then the F15 pilot could fire an AGM missile adjusted to lock onto the heat source.
If I followed ExOps, he suggested the missile be slowed down to gravity bomb speed and the LGB would not reload for say 45sec on the aircraft.
The player on the ground, maybe the ubiquitous Spec Ops would only carry one emitter and would have to reload at a RP/fire base/bunker not and ammo bag.
The real question is can the heat source be made into a weapon like the mine and dropped.
It would not be perfectly realistic but it would give some target designation.
It's a novel approach to an old question.
@MichSt Spartan ..................what do you think is the source of El Vikingo's invulnerability .........kryptonite jock strap ?
