Ok I searched for this but i didn't find any thing!
so my idea is, can we add a heavy support kit? For the Americans it could be an m240 and for the British it could be the GPMG (unless they are the same gun they look the same) The number of support kits can simply be divided like if there is normally 4 support kits then make TWO of them have the heavier MG's! Now Iam no military expert but I am pretty sure that the US and the UK use these guns in combat please correct me if I am wrong!
I just had this idea when i was playing ArmA for the first time last night so flame all you want but I think its a good idea and would be great for holding hard points, for variety and I read about people wanting a deployable .50cal so this might be a compromise! also if you want do do it for insurgents you can use the pkm and the RTK-74 or RPK-74
GPMG[UK]
m240[US]
Type 88 [QJY 88] [china]

I'm sure it is planned eventually - personnally I'd prefer the difference to be a LMG as a requestable kit (the rpk should be the insurgent firepower rather than the PKM) and have GPMGs (FN Mag, PKM etc) as mounted or vehicle based weapons only. The Devs iirc have plans to make deployable weapons (mortars, gpmg's, TOWs et al) a commander asset
I wouldn't mind seeing them as static MGs (if I recall correctly, USMC uses static SAWs right now, and 240s would fit better, imo). I've also seen pictures of Humvees with mounted 240s in Iraq, but we obviously don't need that since we have the .50 cals.

Remember that these weapons are manned either only in defencive emplasments, mounted on vehicles or by 2 soldiers
Yeah, the greatest thing would be a HMG2-kit with special Ammo Bags that only contains HMG ammo plus a carbine or something for CQB situations or when meeting resistance on the move.
And if I'm allowed to dream: The HMG could be deployable, but only when a HMG2-Kit of the same sqad is in a 5 metre radius and you couldn't shoot if he moves away or something.
For shame El_Vikingo, this is listed in your already suggested thread
I would love to see a portable m240, drop the two man crew and give him only one belt of ammo. He will need a rifleman etc. out of neccesity then when he runs dry.
Well, we are getting the M240's on the Blackhawks at some point.
I have suggested adding bipods for the support and sniper weapons. Search if you are interested.
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. ~Voltaire
If you are a serious PR gamer do not put up with the chaotic public server gameplay! There are much betteroptionsavailable. Also, be sure to avoid making these common basic mistakes.
The M240 is operated by a team of three people. The ammo bearer, the gunner, and the assistant gunner. And you can't have crew served weapons in BF2...

More damage, lower round count would be my guess.
'cept for the MEC, of course, as they already carry a 7.62x51mm GPMG with 600 round for the standard support kit.
*cough*MG3 (andP90, but not on the same kit) for MEC*cough*
Oh, how I wish the GPMG was back on the Landy and Saxon. I miss it so...
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
Many thanks to [R-DEV]Adriaan for the sig!
I know, but its a very limited GPMG. I much prefured the one on the 360 degree pintle mount.
Damn $keletor and his vile followers for pressuring the Devs to put 12.7mm weapons on them!

What was that eddie? Give the MEC a p90? Yeah that is a good idea!
If usefulness is the primary concern could we not scope MMGs? not sure if this is entirely realistic though. Also would the MMGs increase in power not also mean an increase in range and less bullet drop which would make them all the more useful? I'd assume there was a higher muzzle velocity too but these are all questions for bob of course and I dunno if bullet speed is covered by BF2, wouldn't surprise me if every small arms round travelled the same speed...
As for the team thing I'm sure the devs can work round it, they seem to have done with every other restrictive £"%%ing thing in the engines coding.
