but what would motivate the player to choose the "reporter" class?
In the case of civilians we've tried to design them to be a class that is a non combatant supporter of the Insurgency. Don't get me wrong... I get it there are design issues we'll need to evaluate... but what's going to make players choose to spawn as a reporter? (like say after they have checked out the class a couple of times).

good question..I wonder often myself why anyone would be civilian anyway when they could have a gun in hand...i suppose one answer is there are all kinds of players, one type that wants to play civvie, reporter, etc, like there are all kinds of irl people, but i agree, what is the benefit/payback?'[R-DEV wrote:eggman']but what would motivate the player to choose the "reporter" class?

with civvie is it just that you can heal? perhaps as reporter /photog its the rush of trying to survive/not get captured in a war zone without any protection.. perhaps they have the fastest running power of all classes (since they have no armor) and insurgents get neg points for killing them....
Heres a thought: perhaps the person is an international aid worker (civvie for the brit side?) then they could heal just like civs, jeez, perhaps even both sides?
ok, head starting to spin now....

my original idea is to not have british faction civilians but instead have a variety of optional (and limited) kits that civvies can grab.Sgt_carbonero wrote:

reporter was one - "PRESS" perhaps on the back
AND.... You find me a reporter that doesn't wear body armour in a war zone and i'll eat my hat
Reason why players play civvies... because you may not get much glory, but you get a lot of satisfaction in helping your team/squad. Thats why i play PR... If i get 0 kills - deaths as transport or medic, or commander with the best teamwork score... i'm happy..

Well, what difference does that make, if you shot civilians, if they are players, while if they were bots, you'd go shooting "make room people" so the bullet wouldnt end in the wrong body
What we would really need, is about 16 civilian bots for Insurgents and the human civies could blend in them. That way Brits would be on a look out, whos who...
