I see what you mean,I'll try to think of something and put it in'[R-DEV wrote:KingofCamelot']Good guide!
Perhaps add in a bit about how a sniper can delay being spotted? I know that at times if I'm pinned down by a sniper a good way to locate where hes sitting is to quickly peak out in a controlled direction, and if he fires you know he can see you from that position. Basically narrowing down where he is.
So, maybe when discussing guarding a crossroads or any other situation where you're pinning down an enemy that the sniper should be aware of tactics used to spot his location and should possibly not take a shot in order to confuse the soldier trying to locate him. If the sniper waits until the soldier has exposed more of himself before taking a shot then the soldier could be tricked into thinking the sniper is in a different area.
Just an idea.![]()

Maybe add in something about how to mislead enemies about your position. I could think of e.g. after killing the squad leader not shooting at any enemies who think you are somewhere completely different and have chosen their cover badly since they are now exposed to your fire.'[R-DEV wrote:fuzzhead']yea KoC that is exactly how I locate snipers... I get a private to stand up in an area that I know is blocked from North for example, but exposed to the east. If said private gets shot, then I know the sniper is not in the north but probably the east.
Can't remember about that part of the guide but one of the best ways to help your team as a sniper is to keep as many enemies as possible from doing their job.

At first I wanted to, but the problem is: You can't really be taught about the drop. You have to gather the experience while shooting yourself, this is something that (in my opinion) can only be learned the empirical way.::Major_Baker:: wrote:please include a part on bullet drop, as it is a HUGE aspect of sniper in PR

the empirical way--you mean not ever being able to hit anything over a few hundred yards?Hardtman wrote:At first I wanted to, but the problem is: You can't really be taught about the drop. you can take some screen shots and such to help people with that. better to have players ahving a bit of an idea than practicing with the rifle, not realizing they have to shoot ten feet higher than their target, and not helping the team or being minutely effective, right?

For some reason I find it quite funny that you make the poor privates go get shot.'[R-DEV wrote:fuzzhead']yea KoC that is exactly how I locate snipers... I guess thats why you're such a good squad leader.

Looks good so far. There are a few spots where the grammar and flow is a bit off but overall very nice.
Again I'm just picking out some wording etc. overall content is nice. You might piss Strategist off as he is the official wiki strategy editor/contributor CEO
This little bit didn't sound correct. It isn't a handle its a bolt. You have to operate the bolt after each shot fired. Hell of a blast sounds just wrong, should be stopping power or something. So, lets have a look at your sniper rifle: It is bolt action, which means you can only use single shot since you have to use the handle after each. It has also awesome accuracy; a shot will nearly always hit where you aimed, not taking bullet drop into consideration. Also, it has a hell of a blast. A head shot is lethal, no wonder, and a body hit can kill instantly if the target does not wear body armor, or in the long run if the target has body armor, but the bleeding caused by the bullet is not tended to.

It will hit where you aim if the target in at 600m, The bullet drop in BF2 in linear, so it should be going strait.KP wrote:Just one question regarding the zeroing: does that mean that the bullets will travel in a straight line out to 600 m?
1 very useful source of sniping info for me is to watch Kenwayy by pressing C when dead.
