new game mode.

Post by gazzthompson »

the 1 thing that was amazing about POE , was the game mode frontline. this game mode was AWSOME ! more realistic than most game modes because when its modern army vs modern army theres normaly a frontline rather than just here there and every there, any ways i was thinking mabye the DEV's could design a game mode thats like POE's frontline, but of coruse different and original , any thoughts ?

Could you please describe your idea to those who didn't play PoE?

Sounds interesting though.

AAS v1?

Anthony Lloyd, himself a former soldier in the British army and a Northern Ireland and Gulf War veteran:
"The men inside (the APC) might have been UN but they were playing by a completely different set of rules. They were Swedes; in terms of individual intelligence, integrity and single-mindedness I was to find them among the most impressive soldiers I had ever encountered. In Vares their moment had come."

Yeah I dont like how PR gets so spread out etc...I'd definitely like to see more "Battlelines" established. More features that support\enable this would be a plus in my book. Hold the line!

So you DON'T like how you have different objectives to capture/defend??

This is one of my favorite aspects of PR. Having to hold forces back to defend areas as well as attacking points is great because it requires teamwork and coordination in order to work at all.

Probably a map with a choke point, so both sides get forced to go head to head

Is this like the push mode in FH for BF1942? One team is defending while the attacking team has to take flags in the correct order. Attacking teams ake flags 1, 2, and then 3 in correct order. So if defending team loses flag 2, they need to attack flags backwards so they need to get back flag 1. Is this what the frontline mode is in PoE?

In Frontline mode in PoE, only two flags were available for capture at any one time, the flags adjacent to one another. Also, the CPs were usually arranged in a sort of line. Not always a straight line, but a definite line. Say each side has taken half of the flags and collide in the middle. As soon as either of their front flags is captured, the one behind it is now vulnerable. Also, the flags currently not being fought for could not be used AT ALL. This focused all the fighting to the current "frontline." And really, it was freaking awesome.

I'll find an image.

It's a very fun game mode.

Edit: Had to nerf the images, too big.

This sounds exactly like AAS v1.0 (Assault And Secure) gamemode. We have AAS v2.0. The difference is that the teams now have to assault while defending and takes out the element of predictability...meaning that you always knew where the enemy was going next because of the enforced order.

In AAS v2.0, this is not the case. It is more dynamic, among other things.

As much as I used to love the push maps in FH I have seen the light with AAS v2. It makes you think before you act and requires a team effort to win, not just a leading element that can cap flags. Perhaps one map could be set up for a more tight push mode style but I don't think it would work very well on most of the existing maps.
