Some HAT questions!

Post by Flanker15 »

Can someone give me the low down on the H-AT damage values against various tank surfaces. I hit a tank in its rear armor with a H-AT and it didn't die! Is this caused by lagging hit boxes or is the H-AT just very weak? Also they H-AT appears to drop a little on launch would it be possible to give the launch position a slightly raised angle vs the sights so the missile won't smash into the ground after launch?

The slight drop after launch is to simulate the two stage launch system.

Yes I thought that was what it is for but the missiles still smash into the ground alot (sometimes right in front of you, very messy)! In BF2v you could guide your missile through the ground so there was no much problem but it's rather unrealistic. With the 2 stage launchers, isn't the tube aligned slightly up wards in comparison to the sight so the operator can aim at the target and still fire the missile at a slight incline to overcome the drop?

Probably, but I'm thinking that I read somewhere around here that they can't make the weapon aim anywhere other where the crosshairs are (or should be).
But I could be wrong.

Why don't you just manually fire it upwards than steer it towards the target.

You will avoid the problem of hiting the ground in font of you but also you wont give the warning signal to the tank/APC.

Tank gets the warning signal, when you aim at him, you'd had to fire the missile in another direction and steering it in a loop towards the target.
Good luck with that...

Ok here's some advice:

You only have 2 shots, Make them count

Only Fire if you are CERTAIN for a hit

If you are uncertain you are going to hit don't fire the Tank/APC isn't going any ware fast.

Practice on a LAN server on Kashan Desert or Oilfield.

BE PATIENT Destroying a TANK/APC can turn the battle.

Your Hit locations should go in the most damageable place

1.REAR
2.SIDES
3.TRACKS
4.TURRET

Last Frontal.

Only put your Crosshair over the Tank/APC when you are going to fire other wise they can use counter measures.

Any specific sweet-spots for armor? Vanilla and 2142 had them. I seem to get one-shotted by enemy tanks at 100% health often enough, and I could swear i've fallen victim a good four or five times in a APC to a L-AT. Not as in conventional weak points in armor as happens in real-life, but the coded faults like the front and back of tracks in Vanilla, or the knee joints and Star Wars vent of Walkers in 2142?

The backside is the weakest, I destroyed tanks with two shots from the vBF2 AT by shooting them in the back.

Also, their weak spot is the front side of the tracks, at least it is in vBF2, not sure about the PR, since it doesnt show the damage bar...and I forgot to test it in the debug mode
