To the guy asking to PW the server. That's a bad idea. If you have an issue with new players why don't you help them learn the PR way rather then bash them. You also need to understand that with each new release comes a new influx of players. The ones the like PR stick around. The others may play for a few weeks just to test it. Then they see that it's not a play style they like and move on. Takes about a month or two. But it works out in the end.
I dont mind trying to help the few guys willing to learn and genrally do if they end up in my squad i was referring to the players that decide to completly ignore advice and go flip the nearest chopper or just repeatedly die in the pilots seat while spamming global chat with "WTF HELIS ARE BROKEN LOLZ" ;-)

Setting up now...

Its only dual dual cored 3.0 but still 4 gigs of ram. The 3.4 i have to save as the execs dont know if we want another terminal server.

Only 135 gig total and 50 free but i'm having my friend take his torrents off so there will be more shortly.

Dev's will have login information in a few minutes via PM

Ok the remote desktop information has been sent to Fritz, hopefully this is fully up by the time i get home at 6:30 so i can play on it.

And i BETTER get a freakin reserve slot.

Bandwidth should be plenty even during business hours, speed tested out at around 11,000kbs both up and down. Probaly will be higher if it didn't finish the upload part so fast.

Be patient, Fritz has a job too. ;) However, he'll treat you right in the end.

And yea viperghost that was me you were playing with.

I was trying to play with the new commander stuff.

It took me an hour to be be to able to setup a firebase, just to find out they aren't as cool as bunkers, i was expecting gun mounts and stuff, oh well was still fun.

would a 8 year old laptop (commonly known as "the Paving slab" because of its weight) with the battery burnt out and half the keys not working be enough?

I think having a couple of "Password nights" would be awesome! We can just bury the password somewhere in the forum. TG does it on sun-thurs and its amazingly better. Its not every night either so it just gives us a reprieve from the newbies every few days. Maybe we could do wed-sat or something? I'm all for this! If anything it draws people into the forum to those who are searching for better. And once they get in...the majority of guys would be vets so they learn the "Real" game more quickly than on a normal pub server where noobs tend to flock together and vets get their own squad...YET type advice :) Its only 2 days a week anyways...why not??

If everything goes well i could POSSIBLY afford to donate another server for password use only or everyonce in a while.

Its funny, I read in a post where some guy was harping on PR. He said, "look PR just isn't what it used to be, gone are the days of the PR Gloryhoundz server (dev driven)...now everything is filled with idiots etc etc". Well now we have an opportunity to bring that back with this server. I think this is going to do a LOT for the heart and soul of PR and its dedicated players. I can't even imagine what ANOTHER server for vets only (passworded) would be like...

In the end there are just some maps (kashan) that aren't built for the average player, password nights and vetran players are all needed for the PR experience to truely shine sometimes. Hell on TG password nights...if you go in there, play as a commander and are decent at it. Man, you will have 31 guys at your finger tips...its TRUELY a chess game and being a CO in that situation has been where I've by far had the most fun. Yes sitting there looking at a map and issueing orders\building bunkers was WAY more fun than running and shooting. But only when everyone works and is a good player. Transport Squad choppers were Evacing squads out of trouble a LOT...how often can you say that happened..."Transport, Squad 3 & 4 are pinned and need evac to my way point" DONE...transport was just sitting there on chopper waiting for orders!? Well we did it for 2 hours on Jabal...retreating...switching our attack...bunkering in\defending..commando squads pulling off crazy attacks...just insanely fun for commander. Issue an order and 2 secs later 6 blips on the map turn around and move out. If you haven't tried it, I'd recommend it highly...it was my first time as CO too. Close game, we came back and won by 60 tickets as USA.

Anyways, this is why I say password nights are important for the PR community...its truely a MASSIVE step up in gameplay most of the time.

How much bandwidth is needed for a GOOD 64p server? I've always wondered this. How much do you have? I wonder if the other mods have access to servers like this. It seems like a BIG deal for the DEVs and community to have this! It'll be interesting to see what comes of it.

It should not take me long to set up once I am home. I may yet be able to have it up for you tonight.
