IR scope?

Dust and haze scatter IR. And in a hot environment it's even worse.

Ever seen IR/imagers used in daytime fights? Guess why?

And modern smoke shells/grenades scatter IR too.

Does a whole army of conventional troops get these googles?

Nope. To my knowledge, thermal imaging goggles have not yet been employed or produced. Thermal Weapon Sights have been, but basis of issue seems pretty limited.

Problem is the size. Thermal goggles would be a bit too large, heavy and clumsy. Not to say fragile and expensive. Not a very good combination to make a millspec system :P
