Yea but if that's the case, then it's wrong. Just because it has crosshairs, it doesn't mean that it should be made weaker. Realism is realism, if the .50 cal rips shit up in real life, then let it do so in prmm. And it's not as if iron sights is so much less advantageous than crosshairs, that we have to compensate for using crosshairs.
I thought prmm was aimed at 98% realism, only pulling the gameplay card in EXTREME situations.

i dont think anything will be 'nerfed'.
as it is, hit boxes in bf2 are a little sketchy i think. it seems a few times ive been hit without taking damage and this could be what happened here.
in short, a .50 cal will do what a .50 cal should. the main thing to keep in mind is PRMM is a taste, it (obviously) isnt the finished product by any stretch of the imaginations. nothing will be nerfed. my point was that PR, as far as i know, isnt going for total realism (98% is pretty damn close) because that will kill gameplay, no one wants that. things will be worked out.

Let's remember this cal was first made to shoot down aircraft and take on armour! It should totally decimate infantry no matter where it hits. Seeing as there's no way (or at least no fun way) to simulate being injured, ie having a limb torn off by it, then it should be a one shot kill weapon for the most part against infantry. Those things make (literally) mince meat of people.

well .. after all you could implement some new stuff in it...
meatloaf .. I'm hungry you know ..
stones .. sometimes I feel like throwing stones into people just to tell them I'm there ..
cakes .. cake fight would be fun ...
ok .. enough of jokes ..
I'm not a soldier .. but if .50 cal gun rips ppl parts off .. well .. let it rip .. more tactics will be needed to shoot a person standing behind .50 cal gun ..
I love this mod and I want it as real as possible .. but since I have never been shoot or even held a real machine gun in my hand .. I'm sticking to what ppl think and write here .. And I prefer reality !
bye

You hit someone with a .50 caliber machinegun he's finished as a combatant unless you graze him. You hit him two or three times and you're hosing him off the street, not burying him. The Russian ".51 cal." DShKs and NSVs are no different. He might survive, but he's almost 100% of the time going to be hors de combat. Maybe the best solution would be to replace the .50s on some of these vehicles with PKMs and M240s and just really limit the number of .50s in the game.

noo the numbers are fine. Just make them one hit kill to body and head, and people will be more careful. These .50s are ALWAYS on top of large jeeps and stuff.Gunfighter34ID wrote:You hit someone with a .50 caliber machinegun he's finished as a combatant unless you graze him. Yeah, leave them where they are appropriate but as far as the vods and humvees go do they really have the back hatch thing up all the time? I'm not sure about vods or the vehicle the chinese use in-game but looking through pictures in Black Hawk Down all i see on top is the machinegun, no shield in front or hatch behind. I think a fair way to even out the power of the MG in the long run would be to remove that protection.

The hatch is armored and covers most of the back, and most of the vehicles in Iraq and Afghanistan have at least a gun shield on the front like the ones in BF2. A lot of them have "teacups", which are basically armored cupolas all the way around with the gun shield in front.'[R-PUB wrote:BrokenArrow']Yeah, leave them where they are appropriate but as far as the vods and humvees go do they really have the back hatch thing up all the time? BHD is probably correct in showing the 1043s without gun shields. Back at that time ('93), and I was in the Army then, we still used tanks as tanks and HMMWVs as HMMWVs. Now they've up-armored most of the vehicles to a much greater degree with the teacups and gunshields plus units ad their own ad hoc arrangements because of the nature of the fighting we're involved in.'[R-PUB wrote:BrokenArrow']Ah, alright thank you. I just remembered from the pictures in BHD that most if not all of the humvees shown in pics didnt have that sort of protection. Good call on your part.
We've actually got tank units in Iraq driving around in up-armored HMMWVs because it is considered "heavy handed" by the military to actually use the tanks. I guess it makes us look more like "occupiers". Of course, we still have plenty of tanks over there, but they're used as QRFs or in offensive sweeps.

Exactly, this is a realism mod for god's sake.hoak wrote:I think the .50 Cal weapons should get some pretty bright tracers (if that's possible) to offset more realistic damage if/when they that happens. I'm fine with these weapons having realistic damage, but they should be realistically easy to follow and spot from a distance as well...
