Roads

Post by sep »

I am not sure how possible this is (although I do know there are map entities that can slow down ground vehicles, I'm not sure how you can boost their speed)

I would, both for realism and gameplay's sake, like to see ground vehicles travel faster when they are on roads. Such a difference would obviously affect some vehicles more than others in real life, yet again I'm not sure if/how in depth such a feature could be implemented. If it hasn't been looked in to, I'd say it's definitely worth doing so.

It would add a whole new dimension of gameplay (teams would want to hold control of roads), be more realistic, and allow players to get into the action quicker.

It's not hardcoded (I quess) since light vehicles slow down [very] much when they drive trough low water. Like on Zatar.

It would be very nice to see imo.

yeah yeah...

im an experienced cyclist, and i know MORE than most that jumping onto a road gives you insta speed. when you hop back onto almost any other surface, other than rock, you slow wayy down. especially things like sand, mud, grass, and water. even dirt trails are slower.

and MAKE THE HUMVEE FASTER
IRL those things have a TS of like 80 mph.

The top speed for an up-armored Humvee is 62 mph going down a hill and with the wind towards your back!

The ones we have now aren't technically "up-armored"

More like "Lets strip off any and all kinds of armor so it looks cooler and more appealing"

I want to know if it's possible to implement.

Can we talk less about hummers please?

ArmA did a pretty good job with this, most of the fights would occur near roads because of this.

I agree, if possible it would make roads more tactically valuable.

ArmA didn't really do anything, it's the same code from Operation Flashpoint.

I agree that this should be changed, but the ridiculous damage done to vehicles when off-roading is more than enough to provide an incentive to drive on roads.

If you think my reason for calling you an idiot is because of your opinion versus my opinion about ArmA graphics, it'll only validate my statement even further.

Think again.

Well if there are surfaces that make transit slower then could you not just make them even slower?

I think the speeds of the off roaders are pretty reasonable at the moment so I wouldn't want that changed. I wouldn't of thought you'd be wanting to do a full 60ish with people riding on the back.

Probably not Ghost but its hilarious to cap the driver in the back of the head while he speeds away from you. Its also fun to launch a light AT right into that open back (try this at home kids!).
:D

Pretty sure they would have to redo the entire model to make it closed though. Probably not worth the time.

It's on the list of stuff to do AFAIK.

Games are about gameplay, not graphics.
