I know this isnt a suggestion forum BUT....
IF your going to add new tank sounds, make them FUCKING LOUD.
What I mean is, in a hypothetical RL Karkand, if an abrams shot a round at the gas station, you would be able to hear it very loudly even if you were at the factory. i dont know if this is a possibility with bf2 engine or not, but if it was it would be cool as hell.
i would love for this to happen to most of the weapons in game, but ESPECIALLY the main battle tanks.
if youve ever heard a tank fire its main cannon in real life, that experience will stick with you for the rest of your life. the volume is absolutely insane, and that is from 30 meters BEHIND IT (if your forward of the tank, anywhere up to 20 meters, depending on your ear protection you can blackout / go into shock / suffer effects like a flashbang, and most definitely loose all hearing).
the only thing that ive heard louder than a tank fire was arty and f18 buzzing air field (well, id say that was about a tie).

As silly as that sounds, its probably the most viable solution.'[R-DEV wrote:Paladin-X']Everybody wants everything louder. Turn up your volume!
Seriously though, we can only increase volume and distance so much before it starts lagging some people out.
As good as the BF2 engine is (prob the best out right now) it doesnt handle distances very well, especially with sound.

Ah memories. *has flashback to Abrams platoon rolling over the hill and decimating my teams poor T-55's*fuzzhead wrote:MikeAP: as far as sounds go: check Operation Flashpoint.
You can hear a tank firing from 1 KM+.
and if your experienced, youll be able to recognize the range, if its a friendly, the model (T72, M1A1, etc) and if the round is coming at you or away from you.
