Airstrike?
Before I start i'd like to inform you that I did use the search function and went through the already suggested post by El_Vikingo.
Ok, so. Some weeks ago I saw a thread here about changing the Artillery with Airstrike (we're talking AI/Unmanned jets flying over and dropping bombs).
It's a nice idea, but someone said it was just about impossible/hardcoded, can't recall who said it.
So, I was just checking out some videos on YouTube and then I found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgXia9ihIjY
It shouldnt be too hard to make, as the guy said that the code for it can even be found on a forum!
I think it'd be awesome to call in an airstrike when you're surrounded by a group of enemies, don't you?

Cool vid. So much for Newton's first law of motion in reference to the bombs. Although I think that bombing targets should be kept up to pilots. It gives more room for error. And you couldn't really do nothing from stopping the bombings from happening as long as they are being called in. Unlike the artillery which you can destroy.

Yep, but i wouldnt like it, you need room for error, without that PR is just perfect everything.

The problem is that this can't hit a moving target like a tank or even mobile infantry. Its not really the "room for error" as much as the overall effectiveness. Besides, I would like to be able to protect myself against air strikes instead of being hammered continuously into submission. If you want unguided area damage, I think artillery is the best option.

ye that video is old, was made by a FS dev a long time ago, be basicly swapped out a UAV for some jets and added bombs to them.
we dont plan on doing this for PR how ever as we would have the same problems as the good old vBF2 arty, cant change the reload time on them etc. the commander would have it avalible every 2mins? or how ever long a UAV takes to recharge in vBF2.
We would much prefer to see real pilots working with troops on the ground for bombing targets rather than you calling in unmanned jets...

The answer, for me, is to find some way to implement player-controlled arty...

And on the cloudless maps?[R-DEV]Rhino wrote:but the supply drop is dropped from a C-130 above the clouds, you cant see it but you can hear it![]()
Tho' I have to say, the sound of the C130 is a helluva lot less than when they used to fly over my house, much less bass-y.
