No Vanilla Maps
Personally I think the vanilla maps like Gulf Of Oman WAC should stay in vbf2.
Its not because I don't think they are all bad but I much prefer playing the ones made for PR like Seven Gates, Qwai River etc. If such maps like Mao Valley return there is no real need to keep any vanilla maps as it might be that they were better designed for vbf2 than PR. The vbf2 maps hold no real place in PR for me when I play them and truth be told they feel quite boring although one or two might be fairly good (I prefer the SF ones over many of the original vbf2 maps).
Theres already plenty of original PR maps so maybe its time to let the vbf2 ones lie.

I don't see why people can't have the choice though. Seems pointless to just take them out like that. Had loads of good games on Oilfields since that's come out and aside from the lag on Oman I've had good games there too. If anything I think there are some Vanilla maps that would be well suited for PR that aren't already in.

At first I didnt like them but as I play them more I think that Oman and Dallian are a very nice maps. They are played in much faster pace and I can find a lot of targets for my HAT.
But Zatar .... OMG I hate that map - if there would be only a few vehicles it could be fun but like it is now (6 tanks on each side?) ... terrible.

80Mb vs 10Mb
it is easy to decide and I welcome more vanilla maps (hopefully a bit more balanced - like Oman is)

Truth needs no law to enforce it

I wonder what maps like Strike at Karkand, Sharaqi Peninsula, and other vanilla maps would be like in .6
I love gulf of Oman, played it yesterday with a kick *** squad.

I dont like the smaller, "foggy" maps. I dont mind having concentrated fighting and CP's but only with the freedom of movement/tactics that a larger map provides ( so concentrated fighting but on a large map). They feel more realistic and IMO provide much more "PR style" play and less gamey/spammy run-n-gun. Once the spawn mechanics are fine tuned I think the PR maps will easily be FAR better than any existing vanilla maps. I like EJOD but even it feels vanilla-esk. I'd rather the whole map be expanded and the city as well...maybe some slumy areas/villages around it. Its so cramped now with long fighting ranges and stuff that it turns spammy pretty quick...even if the armor isn't raping somewhere.
Look how awesome 32pl kashan is...sure it could use some more work/creativity around the INF game but still, theres MUCH more potential there than Oman. Vanilla is old school, a broken record...the new maps are much better and after some reworking they will be EPIC. Sure leave the vanillas there but I wouldn't' devote any resources\time to them that could be used on the newer styles instead.

gulf of oman has been reworked for .6 and is totally playable now. it's a really good map, actually. problem is that most people in .6 havent even tried to succeed on that map (or even tried at all, for that matter).
come on people! dont just sit on the carrier and act like the map is broken. it's a good map now...play it!

Not that I'm the most patient guy on the planet when it comes to reading everyone's posts or anything, but in the posts previous one of the devs said that modding a vanilla map took about 10mg and a new map took about 80mg.A_COLOHAN wrote:I would like to see the vBf2 maps gone. So maybe there could be more space on the DL for more PR maps. I like the VBf2 maps in PR but i like the PR ones better.
