I just want to see these as realistic as possible, so many of these are just incredibly too accurate. I don't mind a little "extra" for the standing and crouched positions.

I find this strange. I see the figures, but have no idea why they are so.El_Vikingo wrote:I hope this teaches people to stop firing off a AT launcher whilst prone.
It certainly doesn't apply in reality.
On the other hand, great work Nedlands1, nice to see some hard figures after all my personal testing on the virtual range.

Well firing an RPG-7 from prone can give you serious back problems due to the recoil, add to that the back blast and you might burn up your back pretty good if you're lying down.MoonDawg wrote:I find this strange. I see the figures, but have no idea why they are so.

And the other weapons all have the same back blast issue which could cause some serious pain. IIRC the LAW-80 (Brit L-AT weapon) has a back blast somewhere in the region of 20 meters or more.
M72 LAW reference page
scroll down to "firing positions" and note the prone position illistration. Imagine trying to accurately pull off a shot positioned like that, especially with something like an RPG-7.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
Many thanks to [R-DEV]Adriaan for the sig!

And as far as firing positions goes there is nothing hard about that prone position. If standing on your head to shoot is the only shot you have, then you most likely will take it, if you can be assured of a good chance for a hit. The idea of the modified prone is to keep the exhaust gases off the shooters legs. It's not deadly to the shooter, but it would sure hurt like hell. You can fire a rifle in that same position as well. Granted it won't be as comfortable, but it can be done. The danger area is more like 15 meters. It's not supposed to be fired from an enclosed space, but you do what ya gotta do, when the lead slinging starts.

The recoil isn't an issue, as there is none.
I know there is a backblast, but this is in reality solved by lying perpendicular to the "tube."
I have actually fired several shots with Eryx, and 84mm "Carl Gustav,"
All from prone, and all with tremendous accuracy.
The blast shock makes you dizzy for a few moments after, though, especially for your loader.
It doesn't ruin the game for me, but is just a weird descision.
